John Calhoun Cummins was born in South Carolina.  He moved to Georgia and
later to Arkansas and finally Navarro County, Texas.
He fought in the Civil War.  He is buried in the Old Chatfield Cemetery,
Navarro County, Texas.

Private—Enlisted in Co. D, 10th Arkansas Cavalry, at Camden, Arkansas,
September 26, 1863; present, February 29, 1864; born in South Carolina,
c1822; listed in Ouachita county 1860 census with wife Lucinda;
occupation farmer.
