An earlier Matthew Fox was a son of John and Mary Fox and a grandson of Henry and Mary Goodwin Fox.   Henry Fox was born 1698.   His son, John Fox served in the American Revolution and was killed while fighting Indians led by Tories.  The Fox Family had lived in the Abbeville District of South Carolina.

 

Matthew  Fox migrated from South Carolina to Cocke Co., Tennessee and died there after 1850.
