Lester Cole Jones was the youngest of of five sons and three daughters of Ben Banks Jones and Mamie Westbrook Jones, a 1926 graduate of Kerens High School and married to the former Bertiola Hobbs of Rice.  He served with the 36th Division and was part of the 1537the Army Air Force BU.  He was a sharpshooter and heavy motor crewman who also earned an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.

OBITUARY

Lester Cole "Buster" Jones
Dec 22, 1909 - Aug 23, 1997

"Buster" Lester Jones, 86, of Tomball died Aug. 23 in V.A. Hospital of Houston.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the Paschal Funeral Home.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Claude Davison officiating. Burial will follow at the Prairie Point Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kenny Sessions, Larry Fields, C.E. Blissett, Homer Gene Wasson, Elmer Ray Jones and Richard Fields.

Mr. Jones was born Dec. 22, 1909 in Roane.

Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Donald Saxman of Tomball; two sisters-in-law, Nannie Jones and Hazel Jones both of Kerens; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Bertiola Jones in 1990.
