Asenith was about 2 years of age when she and her family moved from Hall Co., Georgia.

In 1851, John, Asenith Owen, and their family, moved from Alabama and headed for California, traveling in a wagon caravan with several other families, but changed their plans and decided to stay in Texas after seeing it. At first, they settled in Henderson Co., near the town of Athens. In the 1850 census, they were in Randolph Co., Alabama. In the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census they were in Henderson Co., Texas. Sometime after the 1880 census John, Asenith and their family moved to Navarro Co., Texas.
