Thomas Edington Voss

 

Sarah P. (Angel) Voss

Attached are photos of Thomas Edington Voss and his wife Sarah P. (Angel) Voss, both born 1822 in Forsyth County, NC.  They married on the 8 Sept 1845.  They are buried in unmarked graves in Oakwood Cemetery.  Sarah died on 3 January 1901 and Thomas died 7 Sept., 1904 (one day before what would of been their 59th Anniversary)  They had 6 children and moved to Christian County, Illinois in 1852 where they lived until 1876 when they moved to Corsicana.  The tintypes were taken in Corsicana in the 1890's.

An Old Settler Dead.

Mrs. T. E. Voss, aged 80, who has lived in this county for the past 20 years, died at her residence south of town last night.
Deceased leaves a bereaved husband and son, with whom she lived; resides at Mildred; another daughter Mrs. Guthrie, was in business in Corsicana for some time but left several years ago.
The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. E. E. Bigger at the family residence at 10 a.m. tomorrow, after which burial will occur in Oakwood Cemetery.

  • Sarah P. (Angel) Voss: Born: November 1822 Stokes County, NC, Died: 3 January 1901 Corsicana, Navarro, Texas.  Buried in an unmarked grave in Oakwood Cemetery next to her husband Thomas Edington Voss who is also unmarked.  Their graves are located next to the marked grave of their youngest son, George Washington Voss.
  • Sarah Voss had other children still living not mentioned above.  Mary Ann (Voss) Ellis wife of John Huse Ellis of Mildred/Eureka and Rufus Edward Voss of San Antonio, Tx.  Mrs. Guthrie would be Rebecca (Voss) Guthrie and the son living with her would be George Washington Voss.
