Census records of 1910 show "Millage Grant" stepchild, living with his mother and her husband, Eddie Mitchell (b. 1882) on North 2nd Street in Goodlow, the Black community just south of Kerens. 
His mother was Vitia Granville (Vicia, Veshia, or Vishi, born about 1877 in Texas) and his father was Alexander Grant (born about 1876 in Texas). Siblings would include Iva ( or Ivory) L Grant (b. 1898) and Louella Grant (b. 1903)
