Sam Thomas Dickson, 58, of Dallas passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 in Dallas.

Wake services will be from 6 to 6:45 p.m. today at Peggy Jo Mayse Chapel of Evergreen Funeral Home, 6449 S. Houston School Road, Dallas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Peggy Jo Mayse Chapel.

Mr. Dickson was born Nov. 29, 1943 in Dawson to George and Caldonia Dickson. He accepted Christ at an early age. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Warand was honorably discharged Oct. 10, 1972. He was a mechanic for All City Trailer Repair Company.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra; children, Danny, Sam Jr., Sean, Verna Marie, Kimberly and Crystal; 11 brothers and sisters, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

C.A. "Sonny" Brown Sr., 80, of Palestine passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 in Palestine.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Grasty officiating.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 4, 1921 in West. He was a mechanic for many years.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Charles Allen Brown and George Arthur Brown; and grandson, Mark Williams.

Survivors include his sons, William Brown of Corsicana, Sonny Brown and Robert Brown, both of Palestine; daughters, Lori Beam of Stephenville, Linda Howard of Corsicana and Lucille Meredith of Austin; 20 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Billie O. Bersheim, 78, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 in Corsicana.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Keith Berry officiating.

Mrs. Bersheim was born Dec. 15, 1923 in Norman, Okla. to William and Pearl Morris Hayes. She was a waitress for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar J. Bersheim; and great-great-grandson, Bradon Gray Avery.

Survivors include her daughters, Janice Hope Kelly and Patricia Avery, both of Corsicana; grandchildren, Kimberly Kelly, Bobby Avery and Bryan Kelly, all of California, Crystel Farrar and husband Gary of Arkansas, Charlie Avery and wife Beth of Corsicana, and Jon Avery and wife Jackie of Tyler; great-grandchildren, Taylor Kelly, Bryce Kelly, Cameron Kelly, Elizabeth Avery and Charlie Avery, all of California, Lacy Getty and Jake Getty, both of Alaska, Ryan Taylor, Layton Avery and Mason Avery, all of Corsicana; sister, Obera O'shields of Oklahoma; special niece, Barbara Simpson of North Carolina; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Cecil Blue, 68, of Navarro passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 in Corsicana.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tony Neal and the Rev. Dave Alexander officiating. Interment will be at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of the Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 1060.

Mr. Blue was born Aug. 29, 1933 in Navarro. He was an inspector and a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 1060.

Mr. Blue is survived by his wife, June Blue of Navarro; daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and Grady Arnold of Navarro and Andrea and Rusty Hoke of Huntsville; sons and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Misty Blue of Kerens and Rusty Blue of Navarro; three brothers, Aubrey Blue of Corsicana, Billy Blue of Oklahoma, and M.H. Blue Jr. of Barry; sister, Shirley Smith of Houston; three grandsons, David Arnold of Navarro, Brady Blue of Kerens and Jesse Hoke of Huntsville; and a granddaughter, Baylee Hoke of Huntsville.

Robert Lee Devearux, Jr., 55, of Kerens passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday at M.R. Smith Parlor for Funerals.

Services will be at a time to be determined Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Betts officiating. Interment will follow at Goodlow Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bryant, Pete Smith, Vernon Harris, Johnny Smith, Jessie Rimes, Jr. and Billy Littleton.

Mr. Devearux was born July 14, 1946 in Corsicana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Henry Devearux.

Beatrice Robinson McCormick George, 91, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2002 in Corsicana.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Schusler officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James McGraw, Jonathan McGraw, Lee O'Neal, Alvie O'Neal Jr., Scott Miller and Rob Dunn.

Mrs. George was born Sept. 27, 1910 in Dresden to Elmer Bose and Huldah Hodges Robinson. A 1928 graduate of Blooming Grove High School and journalism student at the College of Industrial Arts (now Texas Woman's University) in Denton, Mrs. George later owned and operated two Navarro County weeklies, The Blooming Grove Times and The Frost Enterprise. In 1944, she became the first woman to serve as county judge in Texas. She was also the first woman grand jury foreman in Texas and the first woman president of the Navarro County Historical Society. She served on the Blooming Grove City Council, and held offices on numerous local boards and organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Billie Caldwell, Tucker Robinson and Adelaide Robinson; brother, Elmer Bose Robinson Jr.; daughter, Drue Ruja; and husbands, E. D. "Ditt" McCormick and Derward George.

Survivors include her daughters, Marylina McGraw of Frost, Virginia Brackett of Lubbock, Adelaide Hall of Dallas and Melissa O'Neal of Plano; three stepdaughters including Jane Taylor of Corsicana; grandchildren, Claire Hoving of Garland, Caroline McGraw of Waco, James McGraw and Jonathan McGraw, both of Frost, Virginia Cartwright of New Zealand, Bill Cartwright of Palm Desert, Calif., Leigh Cartwright of Los Angeles, Calif., Gina Beck of Austin, David Hall and Dinah Miller, both of Dallas, and Lee O'Neal of Plano; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Beatrice Robinson McCormick George, 91, of Corsicana, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2002, in Corsicana.

Mr. Urrutia was born Oct. 17, 1919. He was a farmer and carpenter for many years.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Proctor-Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 4, 1917 in Corsicana and was educated at G.W. Jackson High School. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Spear was born Aug. 11, 1921 in Altus, Okla. She was a member of Elma and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R. C. Spear.

Johnny Frank Craig, 55, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with Rev. John Barber officiating.

Mr. Craig was caretaker of Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. He worked at Gibson 66 Service Station. He was a member of Purdon and Retreat Volunteer Fire Department and retired from Chattanooga Glass Company.

He is survived by his wife, Pattie Craig; sons Steven Craig; daughter Cindy Morick and husband Brian; grandson Joshua Raney; and nephews Joe and Michael Reed.

Velma Lula Jones, 86, of Yoakum, formerly of Corsicana, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2002.

Services were 11 a.m. today at Buffington Funeral Home chapel in Yoakum with Bro. Adam Jaquez officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was born July 26, 1915 in Houston. She was a homemaker and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1933.

She was preceded in death by husband, Aubrey Clifton Jones, sisters Willie H. Edwards and Nettie Faye McClaid and her parents.

Mrs. Jones is survived by son A. Donald Jones and wife Nancy L. of Yoakum; sister Thelma Marie Ware of Houston; grandchild Brandon Green and wife Scarlett; great-grandchildren Paige and Faith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Albert O. Forrester; and paternal great-grandfather, George Rebeck.

Jaycle Ina Peacock, 89, of Farmers Branch, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 N. Stemmons Frwy., Carrollton.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rhoton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Dallas.

Mrs. Peacock was born Oct. 26, 1912 in Barry, the second child of Willie Mack White and Mattie Powell White. She retired from Taylor Publishing after 17 years of service. She loved to paint, crochet, play dominoes and cards, but her greatest love was for her family and Lord. She was a member of Royal Haven Baptist Church since 1973. She was a serious student of the Bible and a witness who spread her love for the Lord to all. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She taught Sunday school as a member of Reader Road Baptist Church. She loved people and was a servant to all, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior and wanted all her family and friends to come to know him.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Edward "Bud" Peacock; sons, Bobby Don Peacock and Gary Alton Peacock; brothers, Elza White, Jim White and David White.

Survivors include her son, Billy Mac Peacock and wife Patsy Peacock; daughter-in-law, Eula Katherine Peacock; sister, Willie Mac Johnson and husband Robert; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly knew her as "Aunt Tom," and many friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Dr. Brian K. Whitney officiating. Interment will follow at Brandon-Bynum Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 23, 1980 in Cleburne. He was a playful and loving child who grew into a wonderful young man. He had many athletic awards through high school including basketball and golf. He could fix anything to do with electronics and was an excellent carpenter. He graduated from Bynum High School in 1999 and attended this previous year at Navarro College. He was working for Ryteck Group.com. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Ralph Wayland Toon Jr.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vivian Williams and Frank J. Williams Sr. of Brandon; father and stepmother, W.K. "Buck" Hill Jr. and LaRue Hill of Corsicana; fiancee, Amy Schulze of Brandon; grandparents, Ralph W. Toon and Eunice Marie Toon of Hillsboro and W.K. "Buck" Hill Sr. and Billie Jean Hill of Hubbard; brother, Frank J. He was born Sept. 3, 1953 in Corsicana. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Louis Kelley; two brothers, Vernett and Louis C. Kelley; and a grandson, Jamoyha Kelley.

AILENE WEEKS, of Dallas, passed away Feb. 10, 2002 after a brief illness.  She was born Oct. 15, 1907 in Blooming Grove, TX to Carl Lee & Ethel Jane (Lewis) Weeks.  A long-time member of Oak Cliff Christian Church, Mrs. Snodgrass was a charter member of the Couples Sunday-School Class there.  In 1986 she was preceded in death by her husband, D. W. Snodgrass, a 44-year employee of Dallas Transit.  They had been married 58 years.  In 1991, her grandson J. Clayton Ellis preceded her in death, and then son-in-law, James Mitchell in 2000.  Survivors include her daughter, Jane Ann Mitchell of DeSoto; sons, Carl D. Snodgrass & wife Margaret of Waco, TX and Jack W. Snodgrass & wife, Carol of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Kimmerie Ellis, Jim, Jack & Kelly Jo Snodgrass and 4 great-grandchildren.  Graveside Services are 11:00 AM, Wed. Mr. Selby was born May 29, 1920 in Raleigh. He loved farming in Navarro County. He became produce manager for various grocery stores in Fort Worth and Forest Hill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora; parents; brother, Emmett; sister, Mildred Moore; and great-grandchild, Shandi.

Survivors include his children and spouses, Ronald and Sharon Selby, Bobby and Karen Selby, Steven and Gloria Selby, and Melvin Selby, all of Burleson, Jack and Patsy Selby of Joshua, Helen and Jimmy Forbes of McAlister, Okla., and Sterling and Maxine Selby of Springtown; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

William Ellis "Bud" York, 84, of Hillsboro and formerly of Frost, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 in Hillsboro.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Home in Hillsboro, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Frost.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Frost with the Rev. Joe Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow at Frost Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Divin, Andrew Divin, Joshua Divin, Buddy Dyer, Leon Crawford and Ronnie Brown.

Mr. York was born April 23, 1917 in Brushie Prairie in Navarro County to Will F. and Jewel Lambert York. He was a veteran of World War II with the United States Navy aboard the ALCOA Pioneer where he was a gunner. He received a Bronze Star Medal for saving a shipmate's life in World War II. He was a lifetime resident of Frost and surrounding area of Navarro County. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Frost where he was a deacon. He was a honorary member of FFA, and was a past member of the school board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene "Maggie" York, who he married on July 2, 1938.

Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Divin and husband Norman and Kathy York, all of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Ryan Divin and wife Leah and Joshua Divin, all of Hillsboro, and Andrew Divin of Huntsville; great-grandchildren, Blake Divin and Kaitlyn Divin; and brother, Charles Ray "Chuck" York of Cleburne.

Mrs. Phillips was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Roane. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana. She worked for the Wolf Brand Chili plant, the Texas Miller Hat Factory for over 20 years, and later for the Corsicana Independent School District working in the cafeteria. The center of her life was her family. She loved to cook, write, take care of children and take care of her family. She was a very loving and generous lady who had so little and gave so much. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vorus "V.W." Phillips; parents, Perry C. and Lois H. McCullough; brother, Van Allen McCullough; son, Charles S. Phillips; and granddaughter, Marci Gorden.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Derwood P. and Barbara Phillips of Dallas; sister, Pattie Everman of Corsicana; granddaughters, Debbie Phillips Boyte of Eureka, Cary Phillips Martin of Frisco and Adena Phillips of Richardson; grandsons, Robin Phillips of Plano and Stanley Ray Phillips of Galveston; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gardner was born Dec. 14, 1912. He was a retired self-employed home contractor. He was a member of Auburn Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and past secretary/treasurer for the church. He was recognized in 1994 for his outstanding service, dedication and commitment to Auburn Baptist Church Youth Baseball League. In 1998, he was recognized for his Christian dedication to Auburn Baptist Church and the surrounding community. He was honored by having Gardner Field named in his honor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levvie and Bertha Hollingsworth Gardner; sister, Edna Earl McCown; and brother, Levvie Gardner Jr.
