Billy Joe “Peanut” Tally, 81, of Corsicana passed away Friday, May 18, 2007, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Brother Bill Honea officiating.

Mr. Tally was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Emhouse. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Billy Payne of Corsicana; grandson, Pace Payne of Corsicana; and brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Dorothy Tally of Tyler.

Edna “Booch” Blanche Goodwin Chandler, 75, of Corsicana passed away Friday, May 18, 2007.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Brother Sonny Buie officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Glidewell, Johnny Goode, Richard Kelley, Chuck Vic, James Marcum and Bill Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Forns, Maurice Pollock and Eugene French.

Booch, as she was known to her family and friends, was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Florala, Ala.

She married Clifford Chandler in Reynosa, Mexico, in 1950, and they made their home briefly in Raymondville, Texas. Through the years, Booch and Cliff had the pleasure of making many new friends while living in various towns in Texas, Louisiana and Florida.

In 1978, Booch experienced a different lifestyle when Cliff was employed with Aramco Oil in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. This experience gave them the opportunity to make many friends from all over the world. Booch loved to garden and cook and was equally good at both. She was blessed over the years with many loving friends and family whom she cherished until her death.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Clifford Chandler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Chenevert of Denhem Springs, La., and Beverly and Larry Lennon of Corsicana; three grandsons, Caleb Shreffler, Shawn Chenevert of Louisiana and Nicholas Bourgeois and wife Leah; great-grandson, Dylan of Monterey, Calif.; three brothers, E.M. Chandler and wife Mary Jane of Alvin, J.D. Chandler and wife Karen of Tishamingo, Okla., and Doug Chandler and wife Kay of Decatur, Ala.; and sisters-in-law, Mary Pittman and Christi Barnes of Texas.

Lester Barlow, 73, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007, at his residence. He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Corsicana to Bill and Bessie Sikes Barlow.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Lola Graham Denbow Gilbert

Lola Graham Denbow Gilbert, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana. She was born on July 5, 1910, in Chatfield.

Lola resided most of her life in Corsicana. She married Jeppie Gilbert on Oct. 19, 1930. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone as a central office clerk for 41 years and a member of the telephone company Pioneers. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Corsicana Chapter No. 118. She was a longtime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and a member of Kinsloe House for 12 years. She enjoyed serving as a “pink lady” for 10 years at Navarro Regional Hospital. She loved to travel after her retirement and enjoyed being close to her many family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Paschall officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeppie Gilbert; son, Raymond M. Gilbert; parents, Thomas and Flora Denbow; and several sisters and brother. The family would like to express sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff and caregivers at Corsicana’s Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.

She is survived by her grandson and wife, Kyle and Jodi Gilbert of Greeley, Colo.; granddaughter, Vicky White of Oklahoma City, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Neil and Aaron White of Oklahoma, Okla., and Samantha and Sara Gilbert of Greeley, Colo.; sister, Oriene Adams of Corsicana; brother, Bruce Denbow of Corsicana; and numerous nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.

Joseph Anthony Borsellino, 87, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.

Rosary and visitation will be held at 7 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Danilo Ramos officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Garrett, John Garrett, Bruce Garrett, Melvin Bateman, Jeff Parry and Mark Looney.

Joe was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Corsicana to Paul and Brigida Borsellino. He and his family resided in Dallas for many years before moving back to Corsicana and retiring from Uniroyal. He loved to work on tractors and collect tools. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was captured in Germany and was wounded. He told many stories of his ordeal. He received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Fourth Degree assembly member.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Louise Hobbs Borsellino; parents, Paul and Brigida Borsellino; brothers, Frank Borsellino and Charles Borsellino; and sisters, Bea Bateman, Camille Reeves, Dolly Garrett and Josephine Looney.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Bridgett and Jeff Parry of Corsicana; son, Paul Borsellino of Dallas; grandsons, Zachary Parry of Seattle, Wash., and Brayden Parry of Corsicana; granddaughters, Lindsay Parry of Corsicana and Rachelle Borsellino of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Borsellino of Waco; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was born July 15, 1912 in Blooming Grove.

Calvin Drain of Emhouse passed away Friday, July 9, 1999 after a battle with heart and cancer problems.

Mr. Drain was born Nov, 27, 1924.  He was a member of Emhouse United Methodist Church and he loved to hunt and fish.  He retired from the trucking business after 27 1/2 years in Dallas.

Mr. Drain is survived by his wife, Sue Drain; son and daughter-in-law, John and Sharon Drain of Duncanville; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and James Smith of Midlothian; grandchildren, Sean Drain, Jordan Drain, Stephanie Smith and Jennifer Smith; brothers, A.W. James F. "Preacher" Ray, 86, of Quincy, Ill. and formerly of Cordova, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Quincy Veterans Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Chapel, with Brother Bill Honea officiating.  Interment will follow at Pattison Cemetery in Emhouse.

Mr. Ray was born Oct. 30, 1912 in Emhouse, the son of Bez and Laura Meador Ray.  He married Helen Yarger on April 4, 1946 in Lela.  He was employed by Rockwell, Inc. in Los Angeles, Calif. for 30 years, retiring in 1974.  He was a veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Ray is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Tracy and Judy Ray of Decatur, Ill. and John and Tracy Ray and Tom and Julie Ray, all of Cordova, Ill.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Adams of Beaumont and Christine Luther of Corsicana; and brothers, Alvie Ray of Waco and Garvis Ray of Tyler.

John "J.T." Nash, 91, of Lake Kiowa, Texas passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2005 at Pecan Tree Manor in Gainesville.

Memorial services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Koowa Lodge with the Rev. Hubert Wright officiating.  Interment will be today at 1 p.m. at New Chatfield Cemetery in Chatfield.

Mr. Nash was born Oct. 31, 1914 in Rusk to Joe Claude and Minnie Frances Howell Nash.  Following completion of his education, J.T. Nash was employued by the Southern Pacific Railroad in various capacities, retiring after 40 years service.  He moved to Lake Kiowa from Chatfield in the 1990s

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; former wife, Lucille; a son, James Nash; by his brothers, Howell and Jack Nash; and by his sisters, Louise McBroom Helen Brewer, and Maggie (Polly) Henkel.

Mr. Nash is survived by his son, John Nash of Lake Kiowa; daughters Jerry Roberts of Nacogdoches, Sadie Lou Coleman of Dallas and Corinda King of Waxahachie; stepsons, Bill Hatch of Penticton, British Columnbia and Jim Hatch of Salt Springs, British Columbia; sisters Frances Harwell of Dallas and Hallie Baker of San Antonio; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Paschal Funeral Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Paschal Funeral Chapel with Mr. Jimmy Glenn officiating and Mr. Jesse Jenkins assisting.  Interment will follow at Prairie Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Jenkins was born July 9, 1923 in Kerens.  She worked for Halls Grocery for many years.

She is survived by a son, Roy Lynn Jenkins Sr. of Garland; daughter, Clydia Anderson of Kerens; brother, William Curtis Sims of Houston; sister, Doris Wille of Corsicana; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Newland Jr., 74, of Kemp passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 in Athens.

Mr. Newland was born Feb. 24, 1928 in Ennis.  He worked as a bread salesman for Wonder and Sunbeam Companies for 38 years, retiring in 1991.  He served in the United States Air Force as a Military Police in Germany from 1945-'48.  He was a member of the Payne Springs United Methodist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Bernice Newland Sr. and brothers Carl Newland and Derwood Newland.

Survivors include wife of 54 years Marion Newland of Kemp; daughters Kathy Peters and husband David of Arlington and Debby Erwin and husband Henry of Fort Worth; brother James L. Mr. Reynolds was born Nov, 22, 1931 in Grand Saline.  He served as chairman of the board of trustees of First Methodist Church in Freeport and the Haynie Memorial Methodist Church in Rice.  He was a city councilman in Rice for a number of years and also served on the Rice ISD school board.  He was a veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, Ruella Reynolds of Rice; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Reynolds of Waco; daughter, Leigh Ann Weber of Clearwater, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Erna Lee and Gary Dunkerley of Columbia, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Rebecca Reynolds of Duncanville; granddaughter and her husband, Lauren and Chuck Jones of Garland; grandsons, Matt Reynolds and Chris Reynolds, both of Waco; great-granddaughter, Juliette Jones of Garland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Estell, of Corsicana; brother, Nathan Estell, of Corsicana; three sisters, Mary Scoggins, of Corsicana, Josie Estell, of Irving, and Patricia Reed, of Corsicana; and nieces and nephews.

He was born Feb 6, 1907 in Tupelo, and was a lifelong resident of Navarro County. He was a retired machinist for Oil City Iron Works where he was employed for 35 years.  He owned R and R Machine Co. of Corsicana, was a member of the St. Luke's United Methodist Church and I.O.O.F.

Survivors include a wife, Johnnie P. Robinson of Corsicana; two sons, Durwood Robinson and David Gene Robinson, both of Corsicana; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alex (Lady) Lockhart of Corsicana; two brothers, Joe Robinson, and Reuben Robinson, both of Rice; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jones was retired from Oil City Iron Works, and was pastor of the Silent Grove Baptist Church in Cheneyboro.

Williams of Fairfield; four sons, Donald Ray Jones and Richard James Jones, both of San Antonio, Nathaniel Jones, Jr., of Corpus Christi, and Jimmy Lee Jones of Cuero; his mother, Beaulah Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Henry Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; a step-daughter, Lizzie Taylor of Cameron; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Roy Perry Derden, 75, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Chapel with Brother Bill Honea officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Billy Morehead, Mark McGaugh, Kenneth Derden, Tim Derden, Gary Derden and Roy Lynn Derden. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Skinner, David Rutherford, David Sanchez, Justin Jewell, Wade Derden and Clyde Neighbors.

Mr. Derden was born July 10, 1931, in Streetman. He was a lifelong resident of Navarro County and well known by many people. He served with honor in the Korean Conflict where he attained the rank of sergeant on the field of battle. He worked the majority of his life in the oil and gas business from which he retired in 1990. During his retirement he repaired washers and dryers for many people that knew him simply as the “Washing Machine Man.” He loved to fish, hunt and trap hogs. He also enjoyed bargain shopping at flea markets and garage sales. He will be greatly missed by many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Willie Derden; brother, Bruce Derden; and sister, Edna Morehead.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Linda Derden and Teri and Al Skinner, all of Corsicana; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Stacey Derden and Roy Lynn and Karen Derden, all of Corsicana, and Gary and Robbie Derden of Blooming Grove; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Doyle Derden of Corsicana; sisters, Virginia Grimmet of San Antonio, Bonnie Vineyard of Palestine and Lois McGaugh of Corsicana; former wife, Peggy Lewis Derden of Corsicana; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Billy Lawrence Sanders

The Rev. Billy Lawrence Sanders, born July 8, 1928, went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2007, at 11:40 a.m. Pastor, Daddy, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Paw-Paw, and Uncle to many who will greatly miss him.

The Rev. Sanders pastored Shady Oaks Assembly of God and The Lighthouse Church for over 40 years. During his years of ministry, he also evangelized, and worked in foreign ministries. Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Melba; parents, Walter and Erma Sanders; and brother, Marvin. Besides his children, he is survived by his sisters-in-law, Virginia Prisock and husband Gene, and Velma Sanders, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

After retiring, he and his wife Melba moved to Lindale where he enjoyed farming watermelons and peas, if the deer did not eat them first. There he enjoyed visits from his family, Becky Graham and husband Jesse, son Gary and wife Dolly, and daughter Belinda Davis and husband Kenny. His greatest joy was his grandchildren, Gary and wife Machelle, Deana, Leah, and Austin. He lived to add six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, Chanity, Majesty, Natalya, and Baby Seth.

Billy will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful dad, and grandfather. His reunion with family and friends in heaven was a “Great Day.”

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at Grace Church, 7224 N. Sam Houston Parkway East, Humble. Interment will follow at Brookside Lauder.

Roy P. “Buster” Wright, 79, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, May 19, 2007, in Corsicana. He was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Corsicana and attended Mildred schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea earning two Bronze Stars and the Korean Service Medal. Buster married Annie Barnum Nov. 8, 1952, in Waxahachie. He was owner/operator of Wright Studios in Waxahachie for 46 years, retiring in 1997. Before his photography business he had been a Waxahachie police officer and had worked at LTV. Buster was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church in Waxahachie where he was deacon emeritus.

His survivors include his sister, Willie Mae Owen and her husband Royce of Corsicana, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, his wife of 51 years, Annie, and two brothers, Calvin Wright and Clyde Cagle, preceded him in death.

The celebration of life was 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Baptist Church with Brother Tim Gibson and Brother Roy Brashear officiating. Interment followed in the Waxahachie City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Pace, Kenneth Bryant, Butch Nelson, Billy Walker, Randall Osborn and James Williamson.

Myrtle Agnes Shepler

Myrtle Agnes Gordon Shepler, age 96, of Temple died Sunday, May 20, 2007, in Temple. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Temple with the Rev. Merry Wilburn and Chaplain Brent Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Shepler was born July 1, 1910, in Corsicana to H.F. and Agnes Amy Gordon. She attended schools in Corsicana. At age 18, she moved to Fort Worth to attend nurses training at City and County Hospital. Myrtle returned to Corsicana and worked at Navarro Clinic and Hospital. During World War II she relocated to Texarkana to work at the Cotton Belt Railroad Hospital and met Leroy J. “Shep” Shepler, who was employed at the Red River Defense Plant. They were married in November 1945. Myrtle and Shep lived in Cadillac, Mich., and Miami, Okla. After Mr. Shepler retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1974, they moved to Temple to be near her sister and nieces.

Myrtle was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Miami, Okla., and St. Francis Episcopal Church in Temple. She volunteered at Miami Baptist Hospital for 25 years and St. Francis Gift Shop in Temple until 2004. She was a member of the Ladies Bowling League in Miami and the Temple Garden Plotters.

Mrs. Shepler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters. Survivors include her sister, Peggy Cook and husband J.C. of Temple, and three nieces, Peggy Dillard of Belton, Alice Garcia and Sally Vaughan, both of Temple. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews in Texas, California and Switzerland which include: Bonnie Mathison, Kathy Paschal, Sam Gordon, Danny Gordon, Lee Ora Stone, Gary Gordon, Larry Gordon, Jim “Sonny” Spurlock, Bruce Hyden, Nan Fritsch, Susan Schlessinger, Michael Rountree, Wayne Rountree and David Rountree.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, Oak Park United Methodist Church or VistaCare Hospice.

Mr. Nevius was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Geff, Ill. He was retired from the United States Army and had also served time in the United States Marines. Later, he was a professional truck driver until his disability caused him to retire. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Ruth Nevius of Cerro Gordo, Ill.; six brothers; one sister; and grandsons, Jeffrey Nevius and Billy Huse.

Survivors include his wife, Doris A. Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband, Allen Ward of Corsicana; son, Tony Massengale of San Angelo; daughter, Terri Massengale of Dallas; stepdaughters, Alicia Rankin of Aledo, Ronda McDaniel of Rio Vista and Kandra Odom of Joshua; sister, Betty Rattan of Cedar Creek; six step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

Betty Duvall Widener, 58, of Kaufman passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Kaufman.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Mickey Loftis and Rob Glass officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Cobb, Mike Glass, Tommy Jackson, Kenneth Kepley, Richard McFarlin, Billy Don Watkins, Lance Watkins and Terry Watkins.

Mrs. Widener was born Aug. 12, 1941 in Corsicana. She was a longtime employee of Alcatel Network Systems Inc.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lockwood Duvall; mother, Ruth Mae Morgan Duvall; brothers, Thomas Earl Duvall and Lockwood Duvall Jr.; and son, Ronald Gene Stewart Jr.

Mrs. Widener is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Dan Cobb of Kaufman; son and daughter-in-law, Khris and Candi Widener of Corsicana; sisters, Helen Armstrong of Corsicana and Mary Page of Garland; granddaughters, Kristi Cobb of Kaufman and Brittany Widener of Corsicana; and grandson, Jacob Widener of Corsicana.

Lee Wilson, 86, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, in Corsicana.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Chapel, with Russell Bankes Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mr. Wilson was born Jan. 9, 1913 in Gainesville. He owned and operated his own business. He was a member of North Beaton Church of Christ and was a World War II veteran.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Claudie Wilson of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law, Don L. and Joan Wilson of Fort Worth; sisters, Grace Branch of Bells and Marie Parks of Gainesville; granddaughter, Shannon Brents of Fort Worth; grandson and wife, Daniel and Laura Wilson of Breckenridge; great-granddaughters, Kirsten Brents of Fort Worth, Danielle Wilson and Natalie Wilson, both of Breckenridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hazel E. Wossum, 85, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, in Corsicana.

Services were 10 a.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev.
Sondra Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Darren Boyd, Kelly Clayton, David Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Joe Kana and Larry Tacker. Homorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and Buddy Smith.

Mrs. Wossum was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She retired from Texas Miller Hat Factory after more than 40 years of service.

She was born Aug. 5, 1914, in Corsicana.

She is survived by granddaughters, Jennifer Boyd of Bryan and Rachel Tacker of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Carole Wossum of Corsicana; grandsons, Chris Wossum of Corsicana and John Wossum of Corsicana; great-grandsons, Aaron Boyd of Bryan, Alan Boyd of Bryan, Dustin Tacker of Corsicana and Whitten Tacker of Corsicana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Wossum.
