Sep 8, 1898 - Apr 11, 1928

IN MEMORY OF MRS. EDDIE SWINK.

On April 11th at 6 o'clock the death angel visited the home of Eddie Swink and took his loving wife Addie to live with Jesus.

Mrs. Swink was a lovable friend, always had a smile for every one, and there was never a day or night too bad to wait on the sick of our community. She will be breatly missed by her many friends, but most of all she will be missed by her dear husband and children to whom she was so devoted, but God knows best. To the dear ones we can only say: Look to Jesus from whence cometh all our strength and he will comfort you in this hour of sadness. She was laid to rest in the Dawson cemetery. Bro Helms of the Christian church conducted the funeral service. Her grave was covered with beautiful flowers showing the esteem and respect in which she was held by all her relatives and many friends.

Addie dear, God has called you,
To a home on high,
Where no pain or sorrow
Ever shall come night.

There to live with Jesus,
In that blessed land of love,
And some day well meet you
In that home above.

Written by her neighbor and friend.

MRS. JOE YOUNG.

Joseph Milburn Allen
Oct 15, 1858 - Jun 24, 1928

OBITUARY.

Joseph Milburn Allen, passed away at his home near Angus, Texas, June 24, 1928 and was laid to rest in Grape Creek cemetery. The deceased was born in Cook county, Tennessee 69 years ago, coming to Texas in the early days of his youth. He had been a resident of Navarro county since 1898.

Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Forrest Allen of Nashville, Tenn., a sister, Mrs. Sarah McNabb of New Post, Tenn., two brothers, George a Allen of McKinney, Texas, William A. Allen of Gracemont, Okla., and a host of friends by whom he will be greatly missed.

Uncle Joe, as he was known to so many of his friends and relatives, will be remembered for his happy, cheerful disposition. He would always greet every one with a smile and a pleasant word; he was a faithful member of the Christian church and was ready and willing to meet his Master when he said, come. It is indeed hard to give up this dear one, but we know he is at rest, that he has found everlasting joy and peace in that home prepared for those who love and serve the Lord.

We would ask his heart-broken wife to read the comforting words of scripture found in John 1:1-2 and 18, and not grieve for her loved one for God in his goodness seen fit to call him to a better home than this world could give.

A dear one from us has gone;
Our home is not the same.
Our hearts are burdened with grief today
While silently we breathe his name.

The name of that one we held so dear,
Who has answered the summons to go;
And, oh, how we miss him everywhere,
Our true, loyal friends, dear Uncle Joe.

We are wont to question Gods holy will,
And the wisdom of his way;
We find it hard to understand
Just why God took him away.

But we do know his paths are peace,
Tho often sad, they lead to rest.
Some day more clearly well understand
He does all things well and for the best.

God so loved his children here below,
That a precious price he gave,
So Jesus came and died for us,
And won a victory over death and the grave.

Oh blessed thought that Jesus came
And bore the cross to Calvarys hill,
And shed his blood our souls to save,
If we obey and do his will.

Tis hard to bid a last good-bye,
To one whos love has brightened our way.
We must be courageous, hopeful and glad,
For we shall meet him again some day.

We should not grieve for this dear one,
Who has heard and answered the Masters word,
Well done my good and faithful one,
Enter thou into the joys of the Lord.

Written by his devoted niece,
Mrs. Chas. A. Reinheimer,
2210 Buchanan Street
Amarillo, Texas

IN MEMORY OF J. T. McINTYRE

On October 30, 1928, God sent his death angel down from heaven to the home of Mr. and Mrs. McIntyre, and took from them their dear dad and husband. It was so hard to give him up but God saw best to call him home out of his suffering. He leaves a heart-broken wife and six lonesome children, for it wont seem like home any more since dear dad took his heavenly flight.

Oh, how sad is home without dear daddy. Tis hard, so hard to give him up and oh, it seems we can not.

May God of all the mercy, wisdom and love watch over you, and
Oh how hard to give you up, comfort you in your sad and lonely hour, is my prayer,
Oh, dear dad, how we miss thee,
Oh, how hard to give you up,
But angels came down for you
And removed you from our happy flock.

Tis hard, so hard, to break the tender cord,
When love has bound the heart,
tis hard, oh so hard to speak the words
We must forever part.

Dear dad, oh how we miss thee from our home,
To us earth has lost its look of gladness
Heaven seems to us more bright
Since you took your happy homeward flight,
And dear dad we long to cross that river
There to see and know and love you
With the Savior forever,

Dear dad, I never knew what it would mean,
To look upon thy vacant chair
To look with a sad broken heart
But never see you sitting there.

Farewell, dear dad, but not forever
There will be a glorious dawn
We shall meet to part, no never,
On the sweet resurrection morn.

Tho thy dear from lies sleeping
In the cold and silent tomb,
Thou shall have a glorious waking
When the blessed Lord doth come.

May God give his loved one divine grave that they may submit to the will of Him who doeth all things well and may the heavenly father temper their strength to hear it and may the soothing influence of time heal and soften their sorrow until it becomes a sweet, sad memory, lifting their thoughts from the toils and cares of this life and pointing them heavenward.
