Original fireplace and logs donated by Mrs. Oletha Pillans of Winkler, the cabin contains a wood frame bed with rope supports made in 1860, and covered with a spread made in 1861.

Exhibits include an early Texas barb-wire collection, a cobblers' bench, and a cotton sack donated by Mrs. Beatrice Robinson McCormick. A reproduced photograph of Uncle Joe and his wife taken from an 1865 newspaper clipping is displayed.
