Seeking information on Gant Rufus SIMS b. 1855 in Tenn. He and his brother, J. Frederick SIMS, are shown on the 1880 Navarro Co. census. Gant married Nancy Equilla HERRING, b. 1862 in Tex., daughter of Bryant HERRING. Gant and Equilla had four children: Delia, Kate, Margie and Rupert. Gant and Equilla SIMS are buried in Dawson Cemetery. Fred Sims and wife, Lou, and several others in the family were in the same area. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Searching for descendants of Spartan BERRY (b. 27 Feb 1871; d. 02 Oct 1939) and his wife, Mary WYRICK (b. 04 Feb 1873; d. 22 July 1951). Spartan was the only adult son of Dallas BERRY and Mary WALKER. This family resided in the Spring Hill and Dawson areas. There were four children: Curtis, Flora (mar. R. M. FRANKLIN), Agnes (mar. W. J. HUGHES) and Illa (mar. W. H. UTLEY).

Looking for family of Eleazar NASH who was in Navarro County 1844. His son, Henry Clay NASH died 12 Oct 1917. Would like to know where he is buried and if there is a headstone and/or obituary. A Sarah NASH is listed as head of household in 1850 census. A Joseph T. NASH died 2 August 1925. Would like to know if they are related and would also like to know about a NASH School which was somewhere in the area. Thanks for all help.

Am researching the FORGEYS of Navarro County, mostly from around Blooming Grove. Hugh and Celina FORGEY settled in that area ca 1855 and most of their children lived there.

Would like information about A.R.A. PAGE who married William L. FORGEY May 1888 in Navarro Co. Her name could have been Araminta, or some other form. Looking for information on my 2nd gr-grandfather, Jake EVANS. He was one of 19 children born to Cy and Jane EVANS (according to my grandmother, Eula V. EVANS HUGHES). Jake married Harriet (maiden name unknown) and had one child, Willie Page EVANS. He was buried 28 Jan 1968 at Friendship Cemetery. Services were held at Friendship Baptist Church in Eureka. He was a member of Jerusalem Lodge No. 63 in Corsicana. If anyone knows how to contact and obtain records from this Lodge, I would be ever so grateful.

I have found several names from Navarro County Confederate Pension records which match names in my family. I know my family is from Texas but do not know where. My g-gr-grandfather was Samuel Calvin MARSHALL b. 1899 Cleburne, Tex. son of William MARSHALL and Fannie KILLOUGH. Her father was James KILLOUGH and there is a Navarro Co. Pension Application #39450 for a James Wallace KILLOUGH who married Martha Amelia KILLOUGH. Could someone help me check to see if Fannie is their daughter? I also found a pension record for a J. T. CURRY, husband of A. A. CURRY. I have a John CURRY who married Annie CURRY and had a daughter, Margaret Tilitia CURRY b. 14 Feb 1856 in Tenn. Margaret married John William LOVE b. 1849 in Buell, Tex., son of John and Sizie LOVE. There is a pension application #03120 for a John W. LOVE of Navarro County. Would like to have any information on the LOVE, CURRY, KILLOUGH and MARSHALL families who may be related.

Am looking for descendants or anyone researching the SPICKARD family in Navarro County. Harvey SPICKARD, from Caldwell Co. Ky., left his 1st wife Martha BLACKBURN SPICKARD to go out west with Mary/Maude CRIDER. According to the 1880 census of Navarro Co. he had children born in Ill. Mo. and Ark. Family tradition says that one child married a GRANTHAM, another a BRYANT. A son, Milton, visited family in Ky. ca 1915. Thank you for any help.

Need to find parents of Thomas Jefferson COOPER (#1) b. ca. 1853 Miss. who married Frances Delaney JENNINGS. Their children were all born in and around Kerens and Bazette (Cora, Susie, Eura Dell, Alma, Cephus, Lenora, Fannie and Riley Osborne). There were two Thomas Jefferson COOPERS b. ca 1853 in this area of Miss; one is a son of W. R. COOPER and Hulda JENNINGS. Does anyone know which one?

Rufus Alexander NICHOLS was b. 1847 Chickasaw Co. Miss. and died in 1926 Denton Co. Tex. He married Sept. 13, 1869 Barbara Ann MARSHALL b. 1847 Miss; died Bazette, Navarro Co. 1922. Hulda Elizabeth NICHOLS, dau. of Rufus, married Aug. 11, 1895 John Hayes WALKER in Roane, Navarro Co. According to census records the Nichols family lived in Monroe, Lowndes and Chickasaw Counties in Miss. and Denton and Navarro Counties in Texas.

William Avery POUNDS, son of William POUNDS and Elizabeth ROBERTS, (b. Dec. 23, 1815 SC; d. April 20, 1902, Chickasaw Co. Miss). He married America BINGHAM and had nine daughters and five sons. These families lived in several Mississippi Counties and in Navarro County.

Moses and Elvira married Jan. 11, 1839, Washington Co. Tex; then moved to Navarro Co. Their ch: Andrew W. (b. 1840); William M. (b. 1842); James L. (b. 1843); John H. (b. 1845). Moses died before Dec. 1847 - prob. in Navarro Co. Elvira m/2 Henry T. HARLAS (b. 1817 Ky) on Dec 14 1947 Navarro Co. They had 4 ch: Sarah, Benjamin, Thomas and Frances Marion. Elvira died bet 1861 and 1870 in either Hill or Van Zandt Co. Tex.

Looking for information on William Franklin (Frank) CRAIG. Was living Navarro Co. 1860, per census. Tax rolls show that he owned 450 acres land and a town lot in Dresden; also had 22 slaves. He was in Limestone Co. in 1870. Am especially interested in burial location of this family.

My gr-gr-grandfather, Douglas M. McAFEE, b. abt. 1835 either Mo. or Ky. died June 23, 1907. (Source: "Book #1, Coryell Co. Texas Death Records 1903-1917", by Gladys L. Treadway, Gatesville, TX). He married Lucy E. HAWKINS, July 17, 1856 Shelby Co. MO. Lucy died 1880 Navarro County and is buried Oakwood Cem., Corsicana. I believe her husband remarried after her death. The only child I know of from this marriage is my gr-grandmother, Fannie McAFEE, b. Sept. 5, 1857, Shelby Co. Mo.; d. Jan. 26, 1901, bur. Oakwood Cem., Corsicana, Tex. She married James Huey DOUGLAS Sept. 5, 1876. I am hoping to connect with descendants of any of the above to share information.

James R. ALBRITTON and wife, Susan FOWLER ALBRITTON, moved to Navarro County in the late 1860s/early 1870s from Union Parish, LA. Both were born in 1827, Snow Hill, Wilcox Co. AL. By 1900 they had moved to Clay Co. Tex. with a daughter. Susan died 1909 and James 1911 and are buried in Navarro County. I have much information on their parents but nothing on their descendants. Any data appreciated.

Need help on my gggrandfather, John S. YORK. Information on his CW pension states he was a retired preacher, aged 65, in 1899 when he applied for the pension, and had lived in Navarro County for 13 years. My John S. YORK came to Navarro County in 1858; married Mary Ann WILSON in Hempstead Co. Ark. 1850. He died 7 Feb 1924 in Corsicana. This pension mentions a son, T. J. YORK. Is this my gggf or a John Smith YORK who also served in CW from Texas? He died 20 Dec 1896. His wife, Violet L. YORK, applied for a pension in Dallas, stating she had married him 5 Dec 1891 or 1896. She had a niece, Lora JULIAN. Hope someone can help.

According to my grandfather, Samuel Houston JONES, his wife, AnnSMITH, was born near Cade in Freestone County 7 Dec 1887 and was a dau of R. L. SMITH. He also states that R. l. SMITH and children moved to Jones Co. Texas from Nevair (possibly Navarro) County in 1900. Sam Jones married Annie SMITH at her father's home ten miles southeast of Hamlin, Jones Co., at a place called Abbie/Abby. Any help on this family appreciated.

This MELTON line goes back through Jacob Franklin, Jesse Mercer, Jesse Allen and Thomas MELTON. They are kin to Ethan and Eliel MELTON. Most of them are buried in Navarro or Freestone Counties. Would appreciate any information, stories or photoes. Charles William MELTON was married to IdA ARNOLD. He is buried at Steward's Mill Cemetery. Jacob Franklin was married to Ocheessee Jane PARKER.
