Am researching family of John A. Woodall (b. 21 Mar 1824 Ala) and Lacy Melissa Harris. They married in Ala. Feb. 1845. Children (born Ala): Sarah C., Joseph S., Samantha, Mary E., Francis Marion; Children b. Tex: L. Emma, N. C., Nolie, William Sidney. Family enumerated 1870 census Navarro County and John Woodall is buried Dresden Cemetery. Would like to know their parents and what happened to their children.

My family were tenant farmers in the Richland area, NavCo, moving there from La. in 1890. Ggparents were J. A. Frazier and wife, Cora Nellie Young who married 1894 in Corsicana. They had 10 children. J. A. had a brother, Isaac - both bur. Hamilton Cem. Cora had one brother that I know of but no one remembers anything about her Young family other than they came from Corinth, Miss. She was 16 in 1894. Am also looking for info on paternal ancestors. Henry Crain m. Emma Higginbotham - had 10 children in NavCo before moving to Houston. Only know that Emma had a brother, Johnny, who had three daughters in NavCo, said to be buried in a cemetery in Corsicana. If any of this sounds familar, please contact me.

Michele Kantartzis Sun 24 Mar 2002 Looking for information on Charlie Allen (b. Dec. 1895 Elm Flat, NavCo; d. Jan. 9, 1961, Corsicana, and wife Imogene Gunnel (b. 1907 Henderson, Tex; d. Feb. 1935 Kilgore). My gr-moth said her mother died when she was eight in childbirth but she was unable to find gravesite; Imogene's mother remarried 3 times and her step-father was Elmer Simpson. Charlie's father was James Allen, b. 1857 Tupelo, Miss; d. Sept. 16, 1904, Kerens, Tex; he married Mattie Belle Miller 1890 in Kerens. Love to share information.

Looking for information on ancestry and descendants of Tapley Green Allen, son of George Washington Allen (b. Miss; d. Nav Co Tex, bur. Hopewell Cem) and Susan Sheets. One of his sons, Charles Robert Allen, married my father's sister, Lila Smith. Tapley Green Allen was b. Aug. 30, 1868 Ellis Co. Tex; d. May 2, 1939 NavCo. He m/1 Hattie Beulah Dearmore; m/2 Bobbie Penelopia Lawhon Norred. Any information appreciated.

Searching for Echols in Navarro County. Jeff married Annie Mills in 1887 there. According to 1895 City Directory father Benjamin F., and brother Robert were living with Jeff B. Echols at 518 E. 2nd Ave. in Corsicana. Jeff was working as clerk for his brother-in-law LZ Presley & Co. I know of 6 children for Jeff and Annie - 4 grew to adulthood and two died as infants. Would like to find burial place for latter and where Benjamin Echols lived before coming to Navarro County.

Seeking information on G. W. Brewster, thought to have lived in Navarro Couonty mid1800s. Oral history indicates he, or a close relative with same surname, was a sheriff. I have a particial death certificate of a daughter, Mattie Lee Brewster (Richards) b. July 28, 1880, Corsicana, giving father's name as G. W. Brewster and mother as Miss Gragou [sic]. Surname believed to be mispelling or incorrect. No siblings known to date for Mattie Lee.

My grandfather was Robert Emmett Chapman. He was superintendent or principal of Kerens Schools. He died Sept. 9, 1914 and is buried there I think. Any information will be appreciated.

I am seeking information about my uncle's military flight training during WWII. I understand he did his Primary Flight Training in Corsicana in the spring of 1942 with a private company, Air Activities of Texas. He was part of class 42 K and commissioned 13 Dec 1942. He flew a P-40 with the 325th Fighter Group out of N. Africa; was shot down and killed 28 June 43 over Sardinia. He is buried in the American Cemetery close to Rome, Italy. Thanks for any assistance.

James L. R. Swearingen b. Oct. 1859 Macon Co. Ala. moved to Dresden Navarro Co. Tex. with family in Dec. 1872. He married Miss M. E. "Betty" Lynd 19 July 1877 in Corsicana. They had at least two children: John Lynd Swearingen and Otis Lynd Swearingen. Another Lynd family in Navarro County [relationship unknown) included R. Arthur, Emma, Jeff and Vickie. James and Betty Swearingen probably died before 22 April 1933 as obit for his sister, Adaline Love Swearingen Story indicated all then living relatives were named. Interested in learning of family of Bettie Lynd.

S. P. Andrews and family are enumerated in the 1870 Navarro County census, Springhill Beat 4, pg. 29, but not in 1880 Navarro Co. He is in Arkansas in 1881 but not found in 1880 Arkansas census. He is my gggrandfather and I would like to find out more on this family. Thanks for any help.

Looking for information on Humphreys family in Navarro County. Lucille Navarro Humphreys (my great aunt) married Artimis Ward. (I do not know what happened to them). Vernon Humphreys, son of Jim Humphreys married May (surname unk). Lula Humphreys (widow of Jim) married Andrew Smith. Sophronia A. Smith m/1 Samuel L. Humphreys and m/2 Felix Humphreys. William James Humphreys d. 1907 - was CW vet. Allied names are House and Doolen. My gr-grandparents were William Washington Humphreys and Onie Adeline Freels. Would like to know their children.

William Carrol "Bill" Petty and wife Susan Deshazer Petty settled at Retreat before 1850. He came to Navarro County with father, James, uncle George and other members of the Petty family. A sister, Sarah Petty Boren lived in Ellis County and Elizabeth Petty Hedge Burross in Hill County. Bill Petty m/2 Isabella McElroy Sloan in 1870 in Navarro County. Isabella disappears by 1880. Her first husband, William Sloan, is believed killed in an Indian attack in the 1860s somewhere west of Corsicana. Am seeking information on Petty, McElroy, Sloan and other allied families.

Searching for information on the Adkisson family. My gr-grandfather, John W. (Walker?) Adkisson was a Methodist minister and president of 2 Methodist Colleges, one in Navarro County and one in Lauderdale Co. Miss. He is shown on 1900 Navarro County census - age 58. My grandfather, William Sehan Adkisson, taught English, perhaps at the same college. I will appreciate any information.

My gr-grandfather, John Henry Streety, was murdered on April 1, 1871 while operating a ferry at Love's Bridge on Richland Creek. We have information from the Corsicana Observer and the Daily Telegraph mentioning the murder and have traced the grand jury indictment of Boren & Boren vs Texas at the Navarro Courthouse but have no leads from there. Will appreciate further information.

I have some old photos of members of a Seton family, dating 1908-1915, which were sent to my grandmother. I cannot find a connection to the family and have decided they were friends. I do not find any Seatons living in Navarro County today but would like to return them to any interested descendants.

John Calvin Stinson married Mary Francis "Fannie" Aston 27 Sept. 1866 in cherokee County. Their third child (my grandmother) was Mary Belle Stinson, b. 22 Aug 1876 in Kerens, Navarro County. Her mother died when she was two months old and her father married Emma Whatley 9 years later. John died in 1898 and Emma in 1899. Would like to find their burial place and contact any relatives. Glad to share information.
