Dock Rhodes, Miss Cleo Nunn, Maurine Kelsey, Beth Griffin; Blooming Grove Times, Wednesday, September 24, 1980 An outstanding event which is still a precious memory to many girls of Blooming Grove Exes took place during the
1928-29 basketball season. This was the year the girls basketball team, coached by Miss Cleo Nunn, were allowed to wear shorts instead of bulky
bloomers. Sue Wilkinson Magee shares the picture of that girls basketball team attired in shorts, V-necked, short-sleeved
sweaters. Here in the picture the members of the team are seated on a bench at the old "Stadium" located at that time in the center of the town. The
"Stadium" was the official site for all basketball games (both boys and girls). Basketball for many years was the outstanding sport.
