EMHOUSE GRADUATES

TWENTY SENIORS ON

TUESDAY EVENING

EMHOUSE, May.29—(Spl.)—The Emhouse High School closed a very successful school term May 27th with the graduation of twenty members of the Senior class.

The baccalaureate service was held on Sunday evening May 25th, with the Rev. Kirby McGuire, pastor of Memorial Baptist church, Corsicana delivering a very forceful and inspirational sermon, at the school auditorium.  The commencement exercises on Tuesday evening were in the nature of a pageant, in which the members of the Senior Class conducted the program instead of having an outside speaker.  The pageant was entitled “The Light of Truth” and the stage setting was a replica of a Greek altar presided over by the Spirit of Light,  Supt. Melvin Taylor in presenting the diplomas, listed the various personal attributes of the class members.  Principal J. W. Riddlesperger made the presentation of the awards certificates.

Scholarship honors of the graduating class went to Marjorie Hopkins, valedictorian, and Charles Payne, salutatorian.

Other members to graduate were: Wayne Allen, Eva Allen, Velma Copeland, B. W. Gamble, Harrell Gray, Virgil Jackson, Lois King, Jim Love, James E. McMillian, Walton McNeel, Katheryn Miley, Louise Patterson, Clarence Ray, Katheryn Reames, Geraldine Tinkle, Betty Ruth Tomlin, Delma Rea Vest, and Katy Watkins.
