KERENS GRADUATION TUESDAY EVENING, 53 GET DIPLOMAS

 

   KERENS, May 20.—(Spl.)—Kerens high school graduation exercises were held Tuesday evening in the high school auditorium with Dean T. H. Shelby of the University of Texas as the deliverer of the commencement message to the fifty- three members of the graduating class. Dean Shelby spoke on pledging the class to loyalty to best self, home, state and religion.

   The members of the class to receive diplomas are: Jack W. Anderson, Sylvia Arnett, .W. L. Bain, Ethelene Bobbitt, Clifford Breeding, Juanita Brown, Marion Gates, Faye Chaney, Billy Coates, Jean Corley, Art Smith Crowley, Margaret Daniel, Robert Daniel, Hazel Deskin, Lee Farris, Lela Faye Farris, Albert Ford, Leta Gill, R. T. Gowan, Dorothy Hall, Lee Hanks, George D. Hendricks, Lucille Holloway, Mary Fern Stevenson, Leicester Thompson, Louise Walker, Anice Horn, Garland Inmon, Katherine Ivey, Ora Ivey, Reese Jennings, Ola Johnson, Virgie Kerley, Dovie Lee Kyser, Hazel Lee, John Reagor Logan, Atwood Massey, Olan Massey, Hazel Matlock, W. B. Mayo, Pearl McCluney, LaVerne McAfee, Maggie Norris, Macile Phillips, Ganell Quinn, Kathleen Reed, Hortense Sims, Dixie Ford Smith, Dovie Spivey, Leola Tramel, Minnie Bell Warren, Lionel White, and Mary Bell Wylie.

REV. J. U. M'AFEE SELECTED DELIVER

KERENS, May 11.—(Spl)— Rev. J. U. McAfee, pastor of the Kerens Methodist church will deliver the baccalaureate sermon to the graduates of the Kerens high school in the auditorium Sunday morning, May 17th. Sunday school will be held at the local churches but Sunday morning services will be given over to the baccalaureate occasion. Rev. McAfee has a son in the graduating class of the Kerens high school. Caps and gowns will be worn by the graduates for this and all other occasions of commencement ceremonies this year. This year's class is the largest to graduate from Kerens high school, being fifty-one graduates.
