Trent-Chamberlain Wedding
Leslie
Denise Trent of Corsicana and Brian Clinton Chamberland of
Waxahachie were united in marriage Oct. 9 at the Community
Baptist Church with Darin Wood officiating at the double-ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Trent of
Corsicana. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Trent,
and Mrs. Leola Knight, all of Corsicana.
She is a
1997 graduate of Corsicana High School. She graduated from
Navarro College in
2001 with an Associate of Arts degree, and in 2003 with an
Associate of Science degree. Currently, she is interning at
Texas A&M Commerce and expects to graduate in May 2005 with a
Bachelor of Science degree.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Chamberland. He is
the grandson of Carl Richard Chamberland of Ennis and the late
Annie Chamberland, and Betty Jones of Waxahachie and the late
M.H. Jones. He graduated in 1995 in Waxahachie.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a short-sleeved
white satin Oleg Cassini gown with an off-the shoulder
treatment, a beaded bodice and long sheer train. The veil she
wore was crafted by her mother, and she carried a large
multicolored fall bouquet.
She was attended by her maid of honor, Lisa Coston of Corsicana.
Bridesmaids included Crystal Wills of Fairfield, Kim Bottoms of
Purdon and Emily Griggs of Corsicana. The attendants wore long
black skirts with three-quarter-cuff sleeve shirts and a maroon
spaghetti-strap tank top underneath. They carried bouquets which
included three daisies, a sunflower and a yellow rose. The
matron of honor's bouquet contained an additional red rose.
Flower girls were Jacey Coston and Kaycie Chamberland, both of
Corsicana. They walked barefooted, wearing black and white Capri
pants with daisies around the bottom and white peasant-top
shirts with matching daisies around the bottom ruffle.
Jason Chamberland of Longview was the best man, with Chris
Coston of Corsicana, Marshall Bottoms of Purdon and Rod Sharp of
Italy serving as groomsmen.
Ring bearers were Cody Chamberland and Lane Trent, both of
Corsicana.
Candlelighters and ushers were J. R. Trent and Zack Ivy, both of
Corsicana.
The groomsmen, ushers and ring bearers wore black Wranglers with
long-sleeved white shirts.
Music was provided by Arron Cottongame who sang "You Had Me From
Hello" as the bridesmaids and groomsmen entered, and Julie Wood
sang "Because You Loved Me" during the lighting of the unity
candle.
House party members included Rami Coppick of Garland who acted
as coordinator, Karl Craig of Corsicana who provided videography
at the wedding and reception, and Tine Delayne of Waxahachie who
took photographs.
Two heart-shaped wreaths decorated by the groom's mother adorned
the front door of the church. Inside, a driftwood arch at the
altar was covered with fall leaves, daisies and sunflowers. A
square bale of hay decorated in a fall motif stood at each side
of the arch along with V-shaped candelabras covered with fall
leaves.
Fall leaves surrounded the unity candles, and pews were
decorated with green, maroon, gold and silver bows adorned with
sunflowers and scarecrows.
A reception at Corsicana Inn followed the ceremony where candles
and fall flowers rested on tables draped with fall tablecloths.
The dance floor was surrounded by bales of hay and scarecrows,
and a live disk jockey provided the music. Rose Cameron provided
the buffet line.
The bride's cake, made in a three-tier heart-shaped design, was
decorated with fresh fall flowers and topped with a cowboy and
cowgirl decoration.
The groom's butter pecan cake, made by Gracie Trent, was made in
the shape of overalls with matching overalls colors, pockets and
baseball decorations.
Linda Chamberland hosted the rehearsal dinner at Corsicana Inn
the day before the wedding.
Guests came from Corsicana, Waxahachie, Waco, Mansfield, Italy,
Fairfield and Purdon.
Following a honeymoon weekend in San Antonio, the couple made
their home in Waxahachie

Smith-Canady Wedding
Jana K. Smith of LaRue and Jason R. Canady of Kerens were united
in marriage June 12 at the Trinidad Community Center with Harry
Hollingsworth officiating at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Terry and Kim Smith of LaRue. Given
in marriage by her father, she chose a country theme, reflected
in her attire, the wedding music and her bouquet of red, white
and blue flowers. Jacob Boss and daughter Savannah Canady served
as ring bearers, and a reception was held following the
ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of LaPoyner High School and is currently
employed by the Trinidad Housing Authority.
The groom is the son of Bert Perry of Trinidad. He is a graduate
of Caney High School and is employed by the Kerens Police
Department.
The couple has made their home in Kerens

Velasquez-Story Engagement
Anita Velasquez and Douglas Story, both of Corsicana, are
pleased to announce their engagement and approaching marriage.
The wedding will take place Jan. 22 at the First Baptist Church
in Blooming Grove.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Thomas and Deborah Lehmann of
Clyde. She is a 1998 graduate of Clyde High School, and she
served in the U.S. Army from July 1998 to July 2002. She
received her paralegal certificate from Hardin Simmons
University in Abilene. She is currently employed by Corsicana
ISD at Drane Intermediate School and at Candy Cane Corner.
The groom-to-be is the son of Bobbie Webster of Huntington and
Claude Story of Houston. He is a
2000 graduate of Blooming Grove
High School and will complete his course of study at the Navarro
College Police Academy Dec. 17.

Archer-Hodge Engagement
Jim and Judy Hodge of Corsicana are pleased to announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their son Jeff to Lauren
Archer.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mike and Wendy Archer of
Sugar Land. She is a graduate of Clements High School in Sugar
Land, and a 2003 graduate of Sam Houston State University where
she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communications.
She was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi and served as
president of her sorority. She is employed by Intercontinental
Dallas Hotel as a sales coordinator.
The groom-to-be is a graduate of Corsicana High School and
graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in kinesiology. He served as president of the
Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He works in sales and management
with 24 Hr. Fitness in Dallas.
The couple has planned a Feb. 12 wedding at the First Baptist
Church in Richmond.

April Hutson of Garland and Jason Grant of Chatfield are pleased

The bride-elect is the daughter of Kay Hutson of Garland and the
late Bill Hutson. She is employed with NSG Corp. in Garland.
The groom-to-be is the son of Bob and Rhonda Grant of Chatfield.

Raines-Lockett Wedding
Autumn
Nicole Raines and Joshua Luke Lockett were united in marriage
Jan. 1 in the chapel at White Bluff Resort with Joe Dowdy of
Frost Baptist Church officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Chris and Patty Raines of Clifton.
She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Raines of Laguna
Park and Mrs. Eileen Raines of Aquilla.
The groom is the son of Gordon and Judy Lockett of Frost. He is
the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Lockett of Joshua and Mrs.
Luzelle Beene of Frost.
The bride wore a strapless gown of ivory French lace over silk
charmeuse satin with a semi-chapel length train designed by
Melissa Sweet. She carried a bouquet of pink majolica, Delores
and Rosita vendela roses mixed with pink heather and wax
flowers.
Sarah Raines, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor,
with Leah Crow attending as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were
Lindsey Driver and Jaryn Lockett, sister of the groom.
The attendants wore mock two-piece strapless gowns with A-line
skirts. Their aubergine-colored gowns featured wide bands of
ivory aclenon lace over the bodices, and they carried
long-stemmed white calla lilies. Elizabeth Dowdy, the flower
girl, wore a sleeveless aubergine dress of crystal satin and
chiffon that featured a natural waistline with a pick-up full
skirt. She carried a kissing ball that matched the bride's
bouquet, and wore a tiara of pink sweetheart roses and wax
flowers in her hair.
The best man was Matt Farmer. Groomsmen were Justin Howard,
Jordan Revill and Nathan Raines, brother of the bride. Ushers
were Corey Johnson, David Kaddatz, Cory Raines and Brandon
Crawford. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with black satin
trim, white shirts, and black ties, accented by boutonnieres of
juniper with purple and white berries. Will Dowdy, the ring
bearer, carried a white lace pillow created by the bride's
grandmother from the wedding dress of the bride's mother.
Soloist Lisa Payne, guitarist Jimmy Schmidt, harpist Susan
Scrivner and the
Brazos Strings Quartet provided music. Steven Payne read an
opening scripture.
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to short a video by
Mike Montfort depicting the couple's activities from childhood
through college.
A reception followed at the Lighthouse Restaurant overlooking
Lake Whitney. During the reception the groom sang "I Love You
Truly" to his bride while close friend Jim Jobe accompanied him
on guitar. Guests also were entertained by the singing of "The
Aggie War Hymn" by members of the bridal party.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held at
The Trophy Grill on New Year's Eve.
The bride will graduate from Texas A&M University in May 2006
with a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education.
She is employed by Texas A&M Children's Center.
The groom will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
history, and plans to attend Truett Seminary upon graduation.
Currently he is employed by Independence Baptist Church as youth
minister.
Following a honeymoon in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple
will make their home in Independence.

She is a graduate of Valley High School in West Des Moines,

in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at McClennan Community

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Kerens High School and Stephen
F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He is currently employed by
the City of Waco Fire Department.

Methodist Church in Waco.

Morgan-Lewis Wedding
Kenna
Erin Morgan of Simon, Okla., and James Ray Lewis of Dawson were
united in marriage Dec. 18 at the Falconhead Chapel in
Burneyville, Okla., with Gary Labeth officiating at the double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Finley and Sharon Morgan of Simon,
Okla. She is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Jean Parker of
Ardmore, Okla., and the late Jimmy and Mary Morgan.
The groom is the son of James and Angie Lewis of Dawson. He is
the grandson of Sonny and Sammie Lewis of Dawson, and Martha
Dodson and Madge Ray, both of Corsicana.
The stage was set with a large 15-branch arch-shaped brass
candelabra entwined with greenery and white roses. It was
flanked by two seven-branch candelabras, also accented with
greenery and white roses.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin
gown with a round neckline and cap sleeves. The bodice was
accented with pearls and sequins, as were the bottom of the
dress and the cathedral-length train. She wore a fingertip veil
and carried a bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, English ivy
and baby's breath. She wore a string of pearls that belonged to
her grandmother.
The matron of honor was Katie Korstjens of Holdenville, Okla.,
friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Robyn Large of Mounds,
Okla., Winona Almuete of Dawson and Shawnda Day of Ardmore,
Okla., friends of the bride. The attendants each wore a long
periwinkle gown with a draped neckline and flutter sleeves. They
carried bouquets of white roses and baby's breath.
The flower girl was Kylie Large of Mounds, Okla., friend of the
bride, and the ring bearer was Conner Kelsey of Pine Bluff,
Ark., cousin of the groom.
The best man was John Lewis of Dawson, brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Heath Chasteen and Steve McCormich, friends of
the groom, and Ricky Murray, cousin of the groom, all of Dawson.
The groom and groomsmen each wore a black tuxedo with a black
satin vest and tie, accented with a white rose boutonniere.
Serving as candle lighters were Anthony Tipton, cousin of the
bride, and Shawnda Day, friend of the bride, both of Ardmore,
Okla. Ushers were Jimmy Morgan of Simon, Okla., brother of the
bride, and Chris Kelsey of Pine Bluff, Ark., cousin of the
groom.
Attending the guest book was Kathryn Onstott, friend of the
bride and groom.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Falconhead
Country Club. The bride's cake was made by Peggy Blount.
Serving at the reception were members of the bride's basketball
team.
She is a graduate of Turner High School and Southeastern
Oklahoma State University, and she is employed as a basketball
coach at Waurika High School.
The groom is a graduate of Dawson High School, and he attended
McLennan College. He is employed at Wilson Cattle Company in
Ringling, Okla.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at
Cattleman Steakhouse in Ardmore, Okla.
After a wedding trip to Taos, N.M., the couple made their home
in Waurika, Okla.

The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Norma
Sterling, daughter of Governor and Mrs. Ross S. Sterling, to
Cleo Miller of Corsicana was announced in Austin Saturday. No
date for the marriage has been set. Mr. Miller is District
Attorney of Navarro County and a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W.
Miller of Wellington.

BELL-WRIGHT
Nuptials Sunday
Miss Fannie Kate Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Wright of Alma, and Ward
Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bell of Rice, were married Sunday afternoon at 4
o’clock at the Methodist Parsonage at Rice with the pastor, Rev. H. C. Bowman,
officiating with the ring ceremony.
Those witnessing the ceremony were Misses Ruth Wright, Thelma Lummus and Myrtis
Ward, Messrs. Angus Edens and Gilbert Wright.
Mr. and Mrs. Bell will make their home in Rice, where Mr. Bell is employed with
a gin company. Following the ginning season, they will move to Wortham, where he
will be associated in business with his brother.
Immediately after the wedding Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Wright entertained them with a
dinner at their home in Alma.

Miss Simpson
Were Married in J. Jacobs Store
Saturday J. Jacobs threw open the doors to his enlarged store
and customers soon filled the place, and men and women come and
went; presently a young couple appeared and asked permission to
be married in the store, being accompanied by a minister, the
request was promptly granted and soon a throng had surrounded
them while the ceremony was being performed. The couple was
English Johnson Miss Simpson both of the Kerens community. So
the opening of the new store was christened by a marriage, and
Mr. Jacobs says that his sales have been great ever since.

MARRIED SON., LEFT FOR CAMP TRAVIS
Miss Marguerite Donnovan, the only daughter of Mrs. Rose Donnovan, and
Lieutenant John P. Garrity of Corsicana, but now in the federal service at Camp
Travis, San Antonio, were married at the Catholic church Sunday morning at 10:30
o'clock, Father Smythe officiating with the ring ceremony of the Catholic
church.
The church was simply but prettily decorated with cut flowers and ferns. On
opposite sides of the altar were vases of bride's bridesmaid roses, thus making
a pink and white effect.
The bride came to the altar on the arm of the groom, attended by Miss Loyola
Devaney and Mr. Horace Powell of Commerce.
The bride was attired in a coat suit of brown broadcloth with accessories to
match and she never looked prettier than on this occasion, ber [sic] beauty
being heightened by the arm bouquet of bride's roses.
The groom wore the conventional khaki officers uniform.
Miss Devaney was gowned in blue georgette crepe, embroidered in steel beads and
she carried an arm cluster of bridesmaid's buds.
Lientenant [sic] Garrity comes of one of the most prominent families of
Corsicana, is a graduate of Ft. Worth college, and the A. and M. college, is a
young man of striking personality, with bright future before him. The only
regret which he had on this happy occasion was the fact that his mother was too
ill to be present at the ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of O. L. V. academy, Ft. Worth, and admirably fitted to
preside over a home and its duties. Having been reared here she has won a wide
circle of friends who wish her happiness along life's pathway, and prosperity in
her new home and among her new acquaintances.
Among the many presents of cut-glass and silver, the one thing most cherished is
a chest of hand made house linens, the gift of her mother.
Out of town guests were: Mesdames Mary Devaney, grandmother of the bride; J. P.
Hogue and D. R. Langridge and son, Clifford, of Commerce. The bride and groom
left on the Texas Special for San Antonio, followed by the good wishes of
innumerable friends for the best things in life. - Greenville Banner.
The bride and groom are well known in this city, numbering their friends by
their acquaintances, who will wish them much joy and happiness in their wedded
life. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Devaney and niece of Mesdames
J. P. Hogue and D. R. Langridge of this city, with whom she has spent much of
her time. The groom will be remembered here as athletic instructor at E. T. N.
C., resigning this position to enter the officers' training camp at Leon
Springs. He is now with the machine gun batillion [sic], Depot Brigade, at Camp
Travis.

Sybil Garrett Is Wed To John Lee McAfee Sunday
Miss Sybil Garrett and John Lee McAfee were married In a ceremony of local
interest Sunday, August 8, at the First Methodist church in Gladewatcr. The Rev.
Eugene Harris was the officiating minister.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Garrett of Gilmer. The
bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. McAfee of Corsicana.
The bride wore a two-piece dress of brown satin with matching accessories and a
corsage of Vanda orchids.
Mr. and Mrs. McAfee will make their home in Gladewater, where he Is associated
with the Palace Clothiers.
Mrs. McAfee Is a graduate of East Texas State Teachers' College at Commerce. Her
husband served three years with the army In the European theater during
the late war, after graduation from Corsicana High school.

Cryer Creek Girl Weds Frost Man
Miss Octa Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Williams of Cryer Creek, became
the bride of Pat Cook, son of Mrs. John Cook of Frost, January 28.
They were united in marriage by F. T. Fisher, pastor of McCord church.
Wedding Dinner
A dinner was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Cook Sunday, January 29 in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moore of Jones Ranch.

McFadden-Green Wedding Is Held
Miss Gloria McFadden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Johnny McFadden of Powell, became the bride of
Collin
Green, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Green
of Emmett Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock at the parsonage of
Missionary Baptist church with the Rev. A. J. Kirkland as officiant.
The bride was attired in a two-piece dress of navy and rose
crepe with navy accessories and a corsage of gardenias.
The bride attended Powell High School and is now employed
at the Salle Ann Shop. The bridegroom is a graduate of Emmett High School,
served three and one-half years in the U. S. Army Air Forces and is now employed
at the Miller Products Inc.
Mr. and Mrs. Green plan to make their home in Corsicana.

Clyde Cottongame and Ruth
Yates, both of Emmett, were married at the courthouse Monday morning by Justice
of the Peace J. W. Sheppard.

Russell Smith of Jones Ranch and Miss Clemmie McAfee, one of Emmett’s most
accomplished young ladies, were married at the home of the bride Tuesday
morning, December 28, at 10:30 o’clock, Rev. M. L. Latham officiating. Mr.
Smith is the son of Mr. Vine Smith, whose family is well known for its integrity
and kindly dealings with its fellowman. They have resided in the Ranch
community for a number of years and are liked by all who know them. The groom
like his family, is of a strong character and has many friends who will wish him
happiness and prosperity. The bride, too, is greatly beloved and will be missed
much in her home community, because she was one of the leading young women of
the Emmett community, especially in church work and other affairs of interest
for the good of the community. The home was beautifully decorated in green and
white, and Mendelssohus Wedding March was played by Miss Ollie McAfee, assisted
by Mr. DeWitt McAfee on the violin. Some time after the ceremony was over a
nice dinner was served, the bride’s cake also being cut , then the newly married
couple left for their future home near Corsicana. We, Their friends, regret
having to give them up and are confident that they will do good in their new
home community and our whole heart’s desire is that they, as man and wife, may
be happy all their lives.

Married Saturday to
Stokes Armstrong
Miss Ollie Dozier, granddaughter of Mrs. Tadlock of Zion's Rest,
became the bride of Stokes Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. W.
Armstrong of Emhouse, on Saturday, May 6, at 5 p. m., in the North
Corsicana Methodist church with Rev. A. K. Marney, pastor, reading
the impressive ring ceremony.
They were accompanied by the bride's sister and her husband, Mr. and
Mrs. Calvin Wright, and the groom's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J.
E. Stokes.
The bride was becomingly gowned in one of the new blue sheer crepes
with white hat, shoes gloves and bag.
Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong left for
Dallas on a short honeymoon. Upon their return, they will be at home
on the large Stokes farm out from Emhouse, with the groom's
grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Stokes.

Lavergne-Mays Rites
Announced
Announcement has been made of the Marriage of Miss Rochel Lavergne to Capt. John
C. Mays, son of Mrs. John C. Mays of this city. The wedding took place in
Montreal, Canada, on March 12. Capt. Mays and his bride have returned to Bermuda
where his is stationed with the U. S. Army air forces.
