Roster

Cunningham, V. A. Private, age 38, 5' 10".  Was a private in the original Navarro Rifles muster roll of May 3, 1861.  Served in Company E, 1st Texas Vol Inf Regiment up to the time of his discharge on Sept 2, 1862.  Participated in the Battles of Eltham's Landing and Gaines's Mill.
Dunn, David C. Private, age 37.  Was a private on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll of May 3, 1861.  Served in Company E, 1st TX Vol Inf Regiment up to the time of his discharge on Sept 2, 1862.  Participated in the Battles of Eltham's Landing and Gaines's Mill.
Eferd, T. A. (Also may have been Efurd or Eford), private.  Was a 4th Corporal on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll of May 3, 1861. Served in Company E, 1st  Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment up to the time of his death in the hospital, probably in April, 1862.
Garden, H. D. Not shown on the muster rolls of Hood's Texas Brigade, and not shown on the Texas Index (Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers who served in organizations from the state of Texas).  Was listed as a 1st Lieutenant of the original Navarro Rifles muster roll of May 3, 1861.  May have withdrawn in the reorganization during the Spring of 1861 due to being over age, or may have joined another organization.
Hayes, James H. Private / 2nd Lieutenant.  Was listed as 1st sergeant on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll of May 3, 1861.  Was made a 2nd lieutenant in Company E. 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment.  He was present for the Battle of Eltham's Landing on May 7, 1862, but in the reorganization of the company on May 18, 1862, Hayes and two other officers, were not re-elected, and they returned to Texas.
Haynes, William D. Private.  Was a 1st corporal on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Was wounded in the hand severely at Darbytown Road on Oct 7, 1864.  No other info found.  Wound may have been such that he was discharged from service or given light duty
Lawson, J. A. Private / 2nd sergeant.  Was listed as 2nd lieutenant on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Was killed in combat in the Battle of Gaines's Mill, Virginia, June 27, 1862.  Lawson may have been the first man from Corsicana killed in action during the war.
Longing, J. T. Private / 2nd sergeant.  Was wounded and left on the battlefield at Gettysburg, July 2, 1863 where he was taken prisoner.  Later he was exchanged, and returned to duty.  Was one of the men to surrender at Appomattox, April 12, 1865.
Marshall, Robert J. Private.  He was wounded at the Battle of Sharpsburg on Sept 17, 1862.  He was wounded again at the Battle of Chickamauga on Sept 20, 1863, and died of his wound on Sept 22, 1863.
Murray, William Was a private in the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Although Murray is listed as a member of the Corsicana Invincibles, no record can be found of his service with Hood's Texas Brigade.  The Texas Index (Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers who served in organizations from the state of Texas) lists W. or William Murray in 20 more Texas Confederate Army organizations.
Purnell, W. T. Private, age 28.  Was listed as a private on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Participated in the battles of Eltham's Landing, Seven Pines, Second Manassas, and Sharpsburg.  He was paroled at Staunton, Virginia on May 17, 1865.
Sands, R. G. Was listed as a private on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Sands traveled to Marshall Texas with the other Corsicana Invincibles, but instead of joining the Marshall Guards with the others, he enlisted into C. R. Wheat's Louisiana Battalion on May 28, 1861 at Marshall, Texas.  Later, this Louisiana organization was disbanded, and Sands enlisted in Company E. 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment on Aug 15, 1862.  He was wounded slightly in the left knee at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 6, 1864.  He returned to duty and was one of the men of Company E. who surrendered at Appomattox.
Shelton, J. A. (Also, John D. and J. H.) Private.  Was listed as a private on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  He was present in Company E, 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry Regiment up through May 31, 1862, and participated in the battle4s of Eltham's Landing, and probably Seven Pines.  He was listed as missing from June 1, 1862 onward, but the records also show that John A. Shelton was discharged on Nov. 20, 1862.
Trimble, Lee W. Private.  Was a private on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Apparently was wounded during the Battle of Chickamauga on Sept 19, 1863.
Turrentine, M. B. Age 35.  Was a private on the original Navarro Rifles muster roll dated May 3, 1861.  Was present for duty and participated in the battles of Eltham's Landing, Seven Pines, and Gaines's Mill.  Was discharged from the Confederate army on Sept. 2, 1862.
Walker, D. M. Private.  Was listed as a private on the original Navarro Conscription Act, passed by the Confederate Government on April 16, 1862, all soldiers under 18 years of age, or over 35 years of age were ordered released from the army on August 28, 1862 two days before the first day of the Battle of Second Manassas, but chose to go into battle anyway.  He was killed in action on Aug 30, 1862.
Ward, Charlie W. (may have been Word or Wood) (Also, may have been Word or Wood), private.  Was listed as 3rd sergeant in the original Navarro Rifles muster roll.  Was detailed as Regimental Ordnance Sergeant in April, 1862.  Wounded at the Battle of Gaines's Mill, and later died of this wound.
Woodward, W. F. Private, age 35.  Woodward, after having been in the battles of Eltham's Landing and Gaines's Mill, was discharged Sept 2, 1862.
