Corrections to this page:

Lester C. Jones

I am the daughter of Lester Cole Jones who is listed incorrectly among the biographies of WWII veterans.  There is a photo of the footstone of his gravesite at Prairie Point included.  It is the correct footstone as I am the person who arranged for it ; however, the biographical information regarding my father is totally incorrect.  My father was never in the Navy, those are not his parents and the photograph is not my father.  A few years ago I was visiting the Genealogy Room in the Library there in Corsicana when I made the discovery.  When I pointed this out to the volunteer on duty that day, I was told that nothing could be done since the information is well over 50 years old.  I was invited to leave a handwritten correction in the volume on a loose sheet of paper.  My father was a member of the Westbrook family who came to Navarro County ca. 1850 and donated land for the Prairie Point Cemetery.  I would consider it a personal favor if I could be allowed to correct the oversight at least on the website if nowhere else.  My dad was proud of his military service, and I would like to see it documented correctly.  By the way, I learned from the website that my cousin, Garlon Prince Jones, whom I never met, was home on leave from the military when he drowned on July 4, trying to save a swimmer who was in trouble. I had not realized that he was a service member. Linda Westbrook Jones Saxman
