William Henry Bales, served the Confederacy as a Private in Winkler's Company I, 4th Texas Volunteer Infantry - The Navarro Rifles.  He was reported disabled by wound to the abdomen in Feb 1863. Gettysburg 2 July 1863; Detached duty as a teamster Apr-Sept 1864. Discharged on Sept 7, 1864; Lived in Lone Grove, Llano Co., TX as of Jan 1, 1908.  He is buried in the Lone Grove Cemetery in Llano County Texas.
