From: Vera Black Ashmore, Rockwood, Tex.
Dear Ludie. I will wrigt soon. Tell O.C. that Carl said he had
advantage of him. He said that he did not know you and Ollie did
know me. With love Vera.
This postcard was sent to my grandmother Ludie Barron from
her cousin Vera Black in 1908. The Black family had just moved
from Kerens to Coleman County and Ludie and family lived near
Powell at the time. Ludie married Ollie C. Barron Nov. 12, 1905 and Vera had just
married Carl B. Ashmore March 1, 1908. The copyright date on the postcard was 1906 and is the picture
is eerily reminiscent of the sinking of the Titanic which wouldn’t
happen until 1912.
