Pvt. J. H. Bruner, Frost, Texas, Company A., 344th M. G. Bn., 90th Division, went overseas in June 1918, Participated at St. Mihiel and Verdun.  Lost right arm during Argonne battle on October 23, 1918.  Received discharge on February 17, 1919.

Dick Bruner Dies Tuesday Morning

J. N. (Dick) Bruner, 61, World War I veteran, native of Navarro county, died in the VA Hospital at Marlin early Tuesday morning following a several years illness. He was seriously injured 13 years ago in an automobile accident.

Bruner was a native of Kerens but was reared at Frost. He lost an arm in World War I and received a Purple Heart decoration.

The family had resided in Houston for the past three years, but lived in Corsicana 22 years before going to Houston.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Corley Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

The rites will be conducted by Rev. Bob Cheek, pastor of the Northside Baptist church.

Bruner was prominent in the American Legion circles for years.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Richard Bruner, a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Rochlin; a grandson, Dean Rochlin, all of Houston; two brothers, Rufus Bruner, Dallas and Chester Bruner, Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Zora Bowen and Mrs. Savilla Reed, both of Amarillo, and other relatives.
