Robert Glennwood Robinson - ( Mar 21, 1936 - Dec 23, 1962 )

Robert Glenwood Robinson was born March 21, 1936 in Rice, Navarro County Texas to George Alvis & Opal Odessa (Mahone) Robinson.  He was a graduate of the Corsicana High School in 1956.  He was a member of the Corsicana Police Department.  Sergeant Robson was on patrol when he stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of East Tenth Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle, Grover Beamon, 63, shot officer Robinson in the back of the head with a sawed-off, 12-gague shotgun as the officer tried to take cover.

Beamon was arrested, indicted and convicted of murder.  He was assessed a 99-year prison term.  Beamon was released and will be on parole until 2052. Officer Robinson was survived by his wife and one daughter.

Alfred Floyd Burden - ( 7/2/1925 - 1/28/1984 )

Chief of Police Alfred "Burb" Burden was pursuing a speeding vehicle east on Highway 31.  A 26 year-old woman was traveling south on Senter Street.  She failed to yield the right of way at the intersection.  Burden broadsided the woman's vehicle, causing massive damage to both cars.  Burden sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at Navarro Regional Hospital.  Burden was survived by his wife and three children.
