There was a nice, long article in the Ennis Daily News July 12, 2004 entitled
"Ennis Treasures--Legacy of Love" It was a tribute to Jess Bell Seaboalt. Mayor
Russell Thomas presented a certificate proclaiming her 70th birthday as "Jessie
Seaboalt Day". An excerpt from the article:
"Jessie Seaboalt, age 70, is a county girl. Born and raised in Rice, (graduated
from Rice High School) she went to work at Leggett and Platt, married Dale
McAdams (in First Baptist Church in Rice, Texas
1953)
and had a son. When the boy was just two, Dale was killed in a car crash and
Jessie's sweet, happy world came to a halt"
"After a couple of years, a boy she had known in school, Ken Seaboalt, came back
into her life and after a few months they were married. My family and friends
said they didn't understand how I could have found two such wonderful men in one
lifetime to love me", she said. Ken already had a daughter and in addition to
Jessie's son, they have a daughter together."
The newspaper article goes on to tell about her career of home child care,
which includes children and grandchildren of the children she started with. It
is a very nice article. I have several pictures of Jess Mae Bell that I could
add to the article if needed as she is my first cousin.
Please note the text in parenthesis is my addition--and not in the article.
