Edwin E. English is the son of John T. and Laura J. English of Frost, Texas.  He was born in Harris County, Texas, June 18, 1897, and received his education in the Frost High School at Frost, Texas.  When war was declared between the United States and Germany he entered the service with  the United States Navy April 16, 1917, as a first class seaman, and through good work was later promoted to gunner.  He first went to the Great Lakes, where he trained for a while.  Later was sent to Seattle, Washington, where he was assigned to the U. S. S. Saratoga, a flagship of the Pacific fleet, which ship captured a German ship just outside of San Francisco, California, coat.  In Jul 1917, went to San Francisco and in September of the same year to San Diego.  Later on in November went to Panama, remained there only a short time, and in December landed in New York.  On the 26th day of the same month set sail for his first trip across the Atlantic, landing at Brest, France.  He later made seven other trips across the seas, and several minor trips on the waters.  After the armistice was signed he received his discharge.  His home is with his parents at Frost, Texas.

Edgar E. English, son of John P. and Laura J. English, was born in Harris County, Texas, June 18, 1897.  He received his education at the Frost High School, Frost, Texas.  When war was declared between the United States and Germany he entered the service with the Navy, April 16, 1917.  His first training was at the Great Lakes, in Illinois, where he entered as a plain seaman, and through good work was promoted to the position of Gunner of the First Class.  He was sent from the Great Lakes to Bremington, Washington, and later went overseas to France.  Through some extra service rendered he was given a citation.  When the armistice was signed he did not receive his discharge, but is still in the United States Navy.  His home is with his parents at Frost, Texas.
