This is the only known portrait of George Washington Garner.

George Washington Garner, tombstone in the old Jeffers Cemetery. The picture was taken in 1975. It is representative of the old tombstones and is one of the few identifiable graves in the cemetery. The inscription reads:

G. W. Garner

Born March 16, 1815 : Died March 27, 1883

What To Us Is Life Without Thee

Darkness And Despair Alone

Where With Sighs We Seek To Find Thee

This Tomb Proclaims That Thou Art Gone
