Frank D. Nixon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Nixon.  He was born in Richland, Navarro County, TX, December 27, 1869.  Received his education in the public schools of that place.  Following the declaration of war between the United States and Germany he entered the United States Navy, 3rd Regiment, Company I.  He was ordered to the Great Lakes, where he received his naval training.  Entered as a Seaman of the Second Class, but through efficient service was promoted to Fireman, First Class.  Entered upon his overseas duty November 1, 1918, sailing overseas to England, then saw service in the English Channel and later going to France.  He was in the transport service.  After peace was declared he continued with the Navy until September 20, 1920, at which time he received his discharge.
