Emmett Student Injured During
Athletic Events
Hugh Lynn Osborne, aged 14 years, student of the Emmett School, is
in the Navarro Clinic suffering serious wounds in the head as a
result of being struck in the temple by a 12-pound shot at the
county interscholastic league meet in progress at the State Home at
10:40 o'clock Friday morning. The shot was in the hands of one of
the contestants in the meet and the injured lad was a spectator.
The youth is a son of Ellis Osborne who resides west of Corsicana,
but makes his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Osborne
of the Emmett community.
The exact extent of his injuries had not been definitely determined
early Friday afternoon.
