I found the attached pictures
among ones that my uncle Virgil E. Radcliffe, had sent home during
his short air force career. He was in the class of 42-E, served in
North Africa and was killed in a training accident at Dale Mabry
field in July of 44. None of his pictures were marked as to where
they were taken but I was able to figure it out after seeing the
pictures on your web site. I am putting together a family album
(which I hope will turn into a book) about Virgil's Air Force days.
Feel free to include the picture I have sent you in any exhibit or
display about Corsicana. I would like to know of any upcoming
events at the air field. I am not too far away, over here in
Arizona, and would like to visit the field. The plane in the back ground is
a PT-19. I have been doing much research in this area over the last
few years. Starting with almost no data I have been able to trace
my uncle's career by getting to know other pilots he served with and
research on his units that I did at Maxwell AFB. I two other
pictures of Virgil are taken in front of a PT-19 so they were most
likely taken at Corsicana. Gary Metz
