The Collins Roberts Family
Collins Roberts, born March 11, 1900, died January 20, 1976.
Born in Birdston, Texas, Navarro County. Married Miss Malicy
C. Conner November 13. 1919. The have six
children, 25 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Children; A. C. Roberts, Roscoe H. Roberts, Lorene Roberts Adams,
Marilue Daisy Marine Roberts Hawley, Margie Beal Roberts Duke,
and Lenwood Roberts. He was a member of the
Masonic Lodge No. 266, and served as Worshipful Mastter for more
than 25 years. He was the son of Mary Jane
Collins, born in 1871 near Kerens, Texas and Abraham Roberts, born
1865, in Texas. Grandparents Henry Roberts, born 1840.
Mary Ann Burleson born in 1841 in Texas, Isum Collins born in
Mississippi in 1838 and Chennie Collins born in 1842 in Mississippi.
Isum Collins was owner and operator of a cotton gin in the
Birdston Valley Community for many years. He was also a
Baptist Minister and helped organize Good Will Baptist Church and
many other churches in Navarro and Freestone County.
Malicy Conner's parents; Mary Jane Watson, born 1865, died 1845;
Ezekiel Conner born 1866, died 1927; both spend their entire life in
Texas. Grandparents: Henretta Calhoun Watson,
born in Alabama 1844-1946 and Ben Watson Sr. born 1840-1879.
Easter Ann Conner 1838-1902, Alabama. Que Conner 1837-1901
Alabama. Que Conner was one of the first
members of Carroll Chapel Methodist Church that was moved from what
is now the Pursley settlement. The hurch was torn down and
moved on wagons, and rebuild on the Carroll's farm two and one half
miles south of Richland in 1873. The membership was mostly
Carrolls, Conners, Jessies, Andersons, and other farmers who lived
in the settlement. The church was rebuilt twice on the Carroll
farm and was moved from there to its present location in 1952, on
Pacific Ave. in Richland Texas. by Malicy
