Alton Goff who was known to many people as "yard man." He and I shared the same interest in trying to preserve cemeteries. Alton for several years had been clearing and cleaning a cemetery located between Powell and Kerens. In fact, it was Alton who informed us on one of his visits to Pioneer Village that this particular cemetery went by the name of Good Hope. This cemetery was listed in the cemetery books as no-name so it was welcomed information when he provided the proper name. Alton lived on the same road where this cemetery is located and had taken a lot of pride in his endeavor to clean this cemetery almost totally by himself. Every time he came by Pioneer Village, he was always smiling which helped to brighten everyone's day. His smiling face and obvious cheer will be missed.
