Old And Oldest

Above is the oldest "marked" tombstone in the Blooming Grove Cemetery. It is on the grave of

the daughter of LB. and H.V. Outlaw, and the date of death is July, 1870. There are nine of the Outlaw family graves in the cemetery. An Interesting

feature of the graves Is that they are covered with rocks from nearby Rush Creek of West Navarro County. Shown below Is an even older grave marker—a flat stone taken from the

creek. There are several of these unmarked graves In the Blooming Grove Cemetery, where the town's Methodist history began. The location

will be dedicated Monday, the first day of the Methodist Centennial being celebrated all week in the town. (Sun Staff Photos By Jim Bush
