8/3/2004 Library statue is given a new name

In November 2003, the Friends of the Corsicana Public Library dedicated a statue of a young boy reading in memory of B. Lynn Sanders III and John Ron Johnson. Both men had been serving as library board members at the time of their death.

The library staff felt that the young boy needed an identity. Instead of calling him "the little boy" it was decided to allow the children that participated in the summer reading program to decide on a proper name for him.

During June children submitted names for the statue. These votes were counted and the top five names were: Bobby, Cameron, Johnny, Michael and Tommy.

During the month of July the children voted for their choice. The winning name was Tommy.
