Kizer,
tailor, married a Mrs.Henderson about a year ago in this county. After several months of
happiness, she gave him $400 of her money and he left for foreign parts. Hearing that he
was in Hot Springs, she went after him and recovered $200.
Nov. 17, 1887: Corsicana. A Mr. Johnson
of Chatfield was robbed of $50 while attending the circus here. He believed the persons
involved were circus workers but could not identify them. Mrs. machinery, an old lady who
had a lunch stand on the circus grounds, has also been robbed.
Dec. 1, 1887: Corsicana.
W. T. Harris, claiming to live in South Texas was arrested Wednesday for carrying a
pistol. He put up $200 cash in lieu of bond and says he will stand on the right of a
traveler to carry a weapon for protection.
William Graves was brought in from Kerens on the same
charge, fined $215 and 20 days, the same for Si Williams.James Conner, a transit, was
arrested Wednesday on charge of robbing G. P. Thompson of his gold watch at union
depot.Mrs. R. L. Walton, seriously injured when thrown from a boggy, is slowily recovering
and was taken to her home in the country last week.June 14, 1888. Last week the Honorable
Marion Martin seemed to be very sure of himself in his race for Governor. He stands a
better change of being struck by lightening than elected Governor of the State of Texas.
