TEXAS CONFERENCE
January 5th 1856
From the Christian Advocate we learn that Rev. M. Yell has been appointed Presiding Elder
for the Springfield district. We see that our friend, J. W. Cooly has been appointed
to the African Mission of Galveston. We see no minister named for Corsicana.

MEETING IN CORSICANA
May 30, 1856
A motion having been made and seconded by Major James Thomas Lee, the following gentlemen
were requested to represent Navarro County in the proposed convention to be held in
Austin, July 4th, 1856 to wit: Hon. G. W. Hill, J. T. Lee, Wm. H. Mitchell, W. Lockhart,
Hon. Wm. Melton, Hon. W. H. Martin, Col. C. A. Harper, Roger Q. Mills. J. T. Cyrus

Democratic Mass-Meeting
The
Democracy of Navarro County are requested to meet at Corsicana on
Wednesday November 28th (being the third day of District
Court) for the purpose of appointing delegates to the Democratic State
convention, to assemble in Austin the 8th of January next.
Also, to organize the Democracy of the County.
General J. Pinckney Henderson, T. J. Rusk, Hon. T. W. Bowden and others
are expected to address the meeting.
All
persons opposed to the Know Noth-heresy are invited to attend.
