Adam Christopher Thommarson
Apr 13, 1984 - Nov 24, 2011

— Adam Christopher Thommarson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 24, 2011. Adam was born on April 13, 1984, in Jinju City, South Korea. Given for adoption by a loving mother who desired more for her child than she could provide, Adam was received into his “forever” family in the United States on July 1, 1984.

Two years later, on July 3, 1986, Adam recited the Pledge of Allegiance with thousands of others who became U.S. citizens during the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty. Patriotism and love of country were a meaningful part of his life.

Adam spent his earliest years in Carthage, Mo. It was here that he learned to love the outdoors and that the idea of farming and ranching became important to him as he spent time with his grandparents, Joe and Oleta Thommarson, on their farm in Missouri. Helping granddaddy with the cattle and other chores was exciting to him and made a permanent impression on his life as evidenced by the abundance of cattle, horses, donkeys and goats that meant so much to him at his home in Kingsbury.

Adam moved to Corsicana with his parents, Mark and Lori Thommarson, in 1987. He considered himself a Texan and adopted Corsicana and Texas with the same fierce loyalty he showed for all who found a place in his heart.

Adam grew up in Corsicana, graduating from Corsicana High School in 2002, and from Texas State University in 2006, with a degree in Health Care Administration.

Adam loved Texas Country music, Bluegrass, and contemporary Christian music, but his heart truly danced while singing along with the old classic hymns with which he grew up.

His number one priority was his family, and he eagerly looked forward to having his own someday, a dream he shared with his girlfriend of many years, Candace Often. A beloved friend long before she became a “girlfriend,” Candace was the person Adam had hoped to build that family with.

He was also a fiercely loyal friend, and is already missed by those lucky enough to call him just that...friend.

He had a big heart and an undying faith. He was excited to have found a church family at New Life Fellowship in Seguin.

Adam dedicated his life to caring for others and sharing the love of Christ with those in need. He was a true servant, always placing the needs of others first.

Adam is survived by his parents, Mark and Lori Thommarson of Corsicana; paternal grandparents, Joe and Oleta Thommarson of Corsicana; maternal grandparents, Earl and Charon Peterson of Medford, Ore.; girlfriend, Candace Often of Kingsbury and her parents, Preston and Debbie Often of San Antonio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins all of whom loved him dearly and will miss him until we see him again in the presence of Christ.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.

John Wallace Armstrong Jr.
July 2, 1944 - Nov 23, 2011

John Wallace Armstrong Jr., Texas Aggie Class of ’66, was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011. Not only did he finally get to meet his Maker face-to-face, but he had a joyous reunion with his earthly father and mother, John Wallace Sr. and Mary Catherine Armstrong, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was at peace as he passed on and was looking forward to walking on the streets of gold. With an unshakable faith in God during months of battling cancer, he left surrounded by his loving family. Leaving an ache in our hearts but an abundance of joy, he leaves a legacy of love and fond memories. He faithfully lived by seeking God's will in all aspects of his life and lived to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

On his 21st birthday, he married the love of his life, his faithful and supportive wife of over 46 years, Patricia Sykes Armstrong, after courting her for only one month and then asking her to be the mother of his children. Their love for each other spawned into a family full of love and laughter. He is survived by his “favorite” baby, Patricia Armstrong, his “favorite” daughter, Barbie Armstrong James, his “favorite” son, John (Johnny) Wallace Armstrong, III, his “favorite” son-in-law, Ryan James, his “favorite” daughter-in-law, Beverly Geserick Armstrong, and the best four grandkids a PawPaw could ever ask for, Taylor James, Jeremiah Armstrong, Abbie James, and Jessica Armstrong. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jerry Armstrong and wife Kathy, and Keith Armstrong and wife Sheryl.

John is remembered for his helpful, selfless, giving heart and for bringing a smile to many faces in his life time. He provided warmth, comfort, and joy to many families as he was a significant organizer and builder of many Habitat for Humanity homes across Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and in the Washington, D.C. area. He was an Industrial Arts teacher at Columbia High School for 12 years and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of his students and provided a trade for many to support their families in their future. He pushed his students to be the best they could be and had several of his students elected at the state and national level as Officers for Industrial Arts. Not only did he touch lives as a school teacher, but he also impacted the lives of many other youth and young adults in the Brazoria and West Columbia area as he shared God's word to his Sunday School classes over the years. He was an effective teacher and was honored as Teacher of the Year for the State of Texas in 1977. After leaving his passion in 1979, he moved on to a position God created for him at Shintech, Inc. in Freeport where he was an operator, trainer, and eventually became the Construction Supervisor where he made many life long friends and continued to spread his love for life and happiness. He retired from Shintech, Inc. in May 2007.

John was also a faithful servant to his community through his work as a Mason and as a Shriner. He was initiated on May 18, 1973, passed on Oct. 2, 1973, and raised on Dec. 1, 1973. He served as Worshipful Master of St. John's Lodge #5 from June 24, 1976, to June 23, 1977, and also served as Lodge Secretary, Senior Warden and Chaplain. On Nov. 3, 2011, he was presented the Golden Trowel Award, the highest award a Mason can receive from a Lodge, for his outstanding service.

Over the past few months, he was blessed with two angels from Helping Hands & Hearts Hospice; Margie Rich and Jessica Shell. Once again, he used this opportunity to brighten their days and bring smiles to their faces as they provided exceptional care and love for him. He left his earthly home having made a difference in the lives of many, brought tears of joy to many, provided smiles to the faces of many, and was an Aggie until the day he died.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Baker Funeral Home, West Columbia.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at First Baptist Church of West Columbia with Bro. D.O. Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, and will be officiated by Bro. Grady Cashion.

Raymond Bobalik
May 29, 1937 - Nov 2, 2011

Raymond Bobalik, 74, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, 2011 at the Ennis Care Center, after a lengthy illness. Raymond was born in Ennis May 29, 1937 at home on the family farm, to father Frank K. Bobalik and mother Carrie Cervenka. He attended St. John's Catholic School and transferred to Ennis High School.

At the age of 16, Raymond worked at the Dallas Fair Park Aquarium, soon after started working with his brother-in-law Albert Blazek for the Singer-Freiden Business machine company as a service technician. Over the years the company evolved and changed names to TRW. He retired from TRW only to work for ACS installing and servicing ATM's. In 2000 Raymond retired from the Dallas commute, but couldn’t stop working (on something). He stayed busy repairing friends and families small engines and spending time with his grandkids. His entire adult life Raymond also farmed after his regular full-time job. You could say Raymond was a hard worker.

In 1957 he met and eventually married Eva Howard McNeel in 1959. Ray and Eva made their home in Ennis on the home they built on the family farm. They had three daughters, Gwynneth, Kerri, and Leslie (mostly tomboys). Ray enjoyed the outdoors, so much you could find him outside up to and sometimes after bedtime. He was well known for his garage, where “He” could find almost anything one might need and then some.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank K. Bobalik and Carrie Cervenka Bobalik, brother Frank Bobalik, and sisters Wilma Bobalik Zmolek, Victoria Bobalik Tomason and Mary Bobalik Blazek.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Eva Howard McNeel-Bobalik, daughter and son-in-law, Eva Gwynneth and Robert Guerrero, grandsons Daniel Joseph, Kenneth Robert and Brian Vincent Guerrero of Nanuet, NY.; daughter and son-in-law, Kerri Lynne and Morris Bigham of Ennis, granddaughter and husband, Jessica Ruth and Neil Moore, great-grandson Layton Taylor Moore, soon to be great-grandson Evan Ray Moore of Palmer, Grandson Brandon Ray Bigham of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie Dianna and Michael Rene’ of Ennis; and sister Anna Bobalik Zmolik of Alma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond professed his love of God, and confessed his sins for salvation from Jesus Christ. For these reasons we are comforted knowing we will be reunited once again. Unable to donate organs he chose to donate to Science Care. Science Care sets the standard of excellence for the donation and responsible use of human tissue for medical research, training and professional education.

Raymond's memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Northside Baptist Church, 2800 North Beaton Street, Corsicana. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Northside Baptist Church building fund or the charity of your choice.
