Thanks Corsicana Klan For Assistance Given
To the Corsicana Klan, No. 55:
I take this method of thanking you for the nice donation sent me to be applied
to the fund for re-roofing Mrs. Jim Little’s house. It came as a thunderbolt
from a clear sky unsolicited and unexpected, and put over the efforts of Mr.
Ralph Shipp who was raising the funds for this purpose and a worthy cause.
Mrs. Little’s house is now under a new roof and she wishes to thank the Klan an
all others that donated or helped in any way.
I am enclosing the letter from the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, which is
self-explanatory.

“Mr. Geo. N. Calloway, Chatfield, Texas.
Dear Sir:
The Corsicana Klan have been advised that you were interesting yourself in
behalf of Mrs. Jim Little, knowing the condition of her financial affairs, and
being desirous to help in the worthy cause, we are enclosing herewith Ten
Dollars in currency to be added to the fund for the purpose of reroofing her
home.
“We are firm believers in helping the worthy, protecting the helpless, guarding
the chastity of pure womanhood, separation of church and state, free speech,
free press, and the enforcement of all laws through the legally constituted
authorities.
“We sincerely trust that you and your associates will accept this small donation
in the spirit in which it is sent, and that in due time Mrs. Little through your
efforts will have a comfortable home.
