TWENTY-FOUR ARE GIVEN DIPLOMAS AT
BLOOMING GROVE
BLOOMING GROVE, June 2.-blooming_grove_high_school_Classmates\1933.htm (Spl.)—Twenty-four
seniors of the Blooming Grove High school received their diplomas at
the annual commencement exercises held in the high school auditorium
Thursday night, with W. P. McCammon, president of the board of
education of Corsicana, as the principal speaker.
Miss Kitty Ruth
Matthews played the processional while the seniors marched into
their designated places, and the invocation was pronounced by G. H.
Brown, superintendent of the Blooming Grove schools.
A violin ensemble
number followed the salutatory address by Miss Viola George, second
honor graduate. "Our yesterdays" was the class song presented by the
seniors.
“Today” was the subject of the commencement
address by Mr. McCammon, who explained the importance of the
occasion, briefly reviewed the training which the students had been
receiving for years in preparation for the event, along with some
information about what they might expect in the future.
The valedictory
was delivered by Miss Marv Ruth Walker, first honor student.
The diplomas
were presented to members of the class by Dr. C. C. Kelsey, and the
scholarships were awarded to the honor students by Superintendent
Brown.
In addition to
the two honor graduates who appeared on the program, Willo Price was
designated as the boy having the highest average.
