BLOOMING GROVE SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED LAST FRIDAY

School was closed last week with the handing out of the report cards Friday morning.  The Commencement exercise Thursday night was well attended despite the threatening weather.  Mr. J. W. O'Banion, Director of State Supervision, Austin, delivered a wonderful message.  His topic:

"What a Person Needs to Have a Real Education."  The following program was given:

Processional.

Song - "All Hail the Power."

Invocation - Rev. J. W. Whitefield.

Address of Welcome - Chas. Lee Hollingsworth, Salutatorian.

Special Music - Boys' Glee Club.

Valedictory Address - Juanita Kagler, Valedictory.

Address - Mr. J. W. O'Banion, Austin, Texas.

Presentation of Awards - C. C. Isbell, Supt. of Schools.

Presentation of Diplomas - Mr. J. H. Bacon, Pres. Board of Education.

Benediction - Mr. W. P. Orme.

Auld Lang Syne - Girls' Glee Club.

Following are the graduates; Faye Allmon, Lee Allmon, Sam Carroll, Bernice Hollingsworth, Chas. Lee Hollingsworth, B. R. Hammonds, Cecil Lynch, Dean Kagler, Juanita Kagler, Houston Sheppard and Nadine Weston.

SCHOOLS CLOSED
EXCELLENT YEAR
BLOOMING GROVE, June 1-
(Spl.)— The Blooming Grove
schools came to the close of a
most successful year under the
guidance of Superintendent C. C.
Isbell. This is Mr. Isbell's first
year with Blooming Grove, as
superintendent, he having been
at the head of the Purdon schools
for the last three years. He was
principal at Blooming Grove for
the year prior.
The baccalaureate sermon was
delivered by Rev. Roy E. Curtis,
Central Christian church, Hillsboro.
His splendid sermon was
enjoyed by the large audience
present. This service was held
Sunday night at 8 o'clock at the
school auditorium.
J. W. O'Banion, director of
state supervision, Austin, gave
the address at the commencement
exercise held last Thursday
night at the school auditorium.
His talk was on the real
things that are to be found in a
real education. The following program
was given:

The seventh grade exercise was
held last Tuesday night with
Rev. J. M. Gardner, Blooming
Grove, giving the address. There
were 21 graduates.
Superintendent Isbell reports
that the foundation work of the
new gymnasium for the school
has been laid, and that the sidewalls
are nearing completion. The
"gym" will be 110 feet long and
30 feet wide. It will have an edge-grain
floor, a boys' and girls'
dressing rooms, and a room for
storage of the athletic equipment.
The playing floor will be 48x90
feet. Gas will be used for heating.
