LEISURE GENERAL, SUBJCT FOR FROST 1932 GRADUATION

FROST, May 26.—(Spl.)—Dr. P. Martin Baker, pastor of Third Avenue Presbyterian church, Corsicana, will preach the Baccalaureate sermon May 29, for the senior class of the Frost High school.

Wilma Allen, with a grade of 92.14 has been chosen valedictorian of the class, and Lena Jewelle McClure with a grade of 90.66 will be salutatorian.

On Tuesday evening, June 7 the following students will receive diplomas: Roy Garion Allen; Wilma Flaris Allen; Josie Mae Benton, Loretta Bennett, James Wesley Brown, Mary Wintagene Carroll, Mamie Ruth Crosby, Margaret Mildred Dickson, Josephine Hyer, James Mitchell, J.    Acting on an idea obtained from a recent issue of the Interscholastic Leaguer the Senior class has planned a graduation program this year radically different from the sterotyped ceremonies of the past.

They will attempt to illustrate one of the newest movements in education—the profitable and satisfying use of leisure time.

In a brief introductory talk the money value of education will be set forth. But the theme of the program will have for its purpose, to bring out the idea that making a living is not the only thing for which education is valued, that with the shorter working day there are more and more leisure hours to provide  for, and that those should be filled with the cultural and recreative arts, such as literature, prose, poetry, art, music and play.

The students have taken the entire program into their own hands and there will be no outside speaker.

The program is as follows: Processional—Mrs. Chas. McMichen. Chorus—Sweet and Low—Words by Tennyson, music by J. Barnby.

The Money Value of Education (illustrated by a series of charts) —Raymond McClintock.

The Leisure Time Problem Stated— Lena Jewelle McCIure (Salutatorian.)

Play a Worth-While Leisure Time Activity—Kyle Shelton. (All of the play activities of the school will be represented on the stage. (Betsy Hyer will represent the spirit of play).

Good Reading and Profitable Leisure —Josie Mae Benton. Illustrations by Margaret Dickson and Mary Carroll.

Music in Leisure Hours--Josephine Hyer (The story of Swing Low Sweet Chariot will be given by Mary Hill Stevenson and the song will be sung by the class).
