Acting on an
idea obtained from a recent issue of the Interscholastic Leaguer the
Senior class has planned a graduation program this year radically
different from the sterotyped ceremonies of the past.
They will attempt
to illustrate one of the newest movements in education—the
profitable and satisfying use of leisure time.
In a brief
introductory talk the money value of education will be set forth.
But the theme of the program will have for its purpose, to bring out
the idea that making a living is not the only thing for which
education is valued, that with the shorter working day there are
more and more leisure hours to provide for, and that those should
be filled with the cultural and recreative arts, such as literature,
prose, poetry, art, music and play.
The students
have taken the entire program into their own hands and there will be
no outside speaker.
The program is
as follows: Processional—Mrs. Chas. McMichen. Chorus—Sweet and
Low—Words by Tennyson, music by J. Barnby.
