Award Diplomas To 46 Graduates At Jackson High
Jackson High School staged its sixty-sixth annual commencement
exercises Wednesday night, when 46 graduates were awarded their
diplomas.
Mrs. Will Miller, president of the Corsicana Board of Education,
presented the diplomas at the conclusion of a program held in the
Jackson auditorium.
Dr. I. B. Loud, pastor of St. Paul Methodist Church in Dallas, was
speaker. He was introduced by Walter F. Cotton, Jackson High
principal.
Honor Graduates
Bertha DeGraffenried was class valedictorian, and Cecil Huckaby, Jr.
was salutatorian.
Music was furnished by the Jackson band under direction of Dazell
Lee, and Mrs. A. J. Smith played the piano. Helen Ruth Ward gave the
invocation, followed by the class and audience singing the Alma
Mater.
After Dr. Loud’s address, the Jackson male quartet sang “Oh Clap
Your Hands.” Ever Arnetta Green sang a solo, “As We Part.”
Remarks by Supt. W. H. Norwood also were featured on the program.
