Kerens Commencement Exercise
At the close of the school term of
1920-1921, there were fifteen graduates
from the Kerens High School.
The baccalaureate sermon was impressively
delivered on Sunday morning,
May 29th, by Rev. Ilion T. Jones
of Corsicana in the High School auditorium.
On Monday morning at 10:30
the graduation exercises were held in
the auditorium. The address to the
class was made by Professor Mayes
Behrman of Baylor University, after
which the diplomas were presented to
the class by our Superintendent, G.
G. Herron. The graduates were as
follows:
Toose F. Kimes, Willie Christian,
Jimmle Reta Inmon, Agnes Williamson,
Fannie Mae Smith, Joseph
B. Richardson, Addie McConnico, S.
Allen Crowley, Jennie B. Young, Velma
Olindine Anderson, Opal Roddye
Thornton, Weyman A. Price, Ruby
Crawford, Adelaide Young, Vivian
Opal Bain. Miss Opal Thornton was
valedictorian; Miss Addio McConnico
was salutatorin; Miss Willie Vivian
Christian, class historian; Miss Vivian
Bain gave the class poem, and Weyman
Price gave the class will. Miss
Thornton and Mr. Price received the
scholarships which were awarded by
the different colleges. Mrs. Willie
Hines presented medals to her music
pupils making the highest averages
and these medals were given to
Misses Beatrice Inmon and Enneya
Saddlin.
