PURDON SCHOOLS
CLOSED LAST NIGHT
WITH FINE PROGRAMThe Purdon public schools closed
their year’s work last night after what is considered one of the
most successful sessions of this excellent township school. Prof. J.
M. Glass is superintendent of the schools and he is assisted by an
excellent corps of teachers, all of whom are reported to have done
fine work during the session just closed, and teachers, pupils and
patrons are well pleased with the work done.
The commencement exercises were held last night, at which time
Superintendent H. D. Fillers delivered the class address, his
subject being “Training for Service,” which he handled in a manner
that pleased the large audience greatly, and at the same time gave
the graduates and others as well much food for thought. The program
was quite pretentious last night, there being a salutatory, class
will and valedictory, besides diplomas and medals given. There were
six graduates , they being Gray Davis, Nell Ivey, Bertha Farmer,
Elizabeth Womack, Irene Rhoads and Arthur Bolden.
Purdon is in the full enjoyment of one of the best school systems in
the county and the citizenship as a whole are behind the school in
its every move for betterment, and are very proud of the work being
done by the educational department of their little town.
