Located fifteen miles southwest of Corsicanaon the postal route from Purdon, and Richland Creek in Navarro County Texas. The town was was settled sometime before 1900. By 1906 it had a two
teacher school with an enrollment of 101. At its height around World War I, Rushing had s school, a church, a gin, and a store. In the early 1930s only a store remained, and in 1936 the community had an estimated population of twenty. By the mid 1930s Rushing was no longer shown on highway maps; sometime there
after the community was abandoned. |
