TEXAS SERGEANT KILLED IN FRANCE

PURDON, Oct 26 (Spl) Staff Sgt. Denton Farmer, son of Mrs. Ruth Farmer and husband of Mrs. Joyce Farmer, Abilene, was killed in France June 12.  His Purple Heart has been received by his widow.  He was a 90th Division infantry man.

SGT. FRAMER WAS BURIED SUNDAY IN DRESDEN CEMETERY

Funeral services for Sgt. Denton Farmer, 29, who died in France, June 12, 1944, were held Sunday from the Purdon Baptist church. Burial was in the Dresden Cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. Walter Mortin, Fort Worth, and the Rev. J. Morris Bailey, pastor of the Eleventh Avenue Methodist church of Corsicana.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ruth Farmer, and a sister, Mrs. Letha Davis, both of Purdon.

Pallbearers were Lowell Key Davis, Curtis McGehee, Thurman Johnson, Howe French, Morgan Davis, Paul Wilson Rogers and Elton Skinner.

Corley Funeral Home directed.

SGT. FARMER WILL BE REBURIED IN DRESDEN CEMETERY

The body of S-Sgt. Denton Farmer, aged 29 years, killed in action in France, is being returned to the United States for reburial, according to a telegram received Thursday afternoon by his mother, Mrs. Ruth A. Farmer, Purdon.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Corley Funeral Home. The services will be held at Purdon with burial in the Dresden Cemetery.

A graduate of Purdon High School, Sgt. Farmer was employed by the American Well and Prospecting Company here when he entered the armed forces in March 1942, going overseas in April 1944.

Sgt. Farmer was killed while serving with the 357th, infantry, 90th Division, June 12, 1944, five days after landing in the beach-head invasion of France. He was buried in St. Mere Eglise, France.

Surviving are his mother and a sister, Mrs. Letha Davis, both of Purdon.
