She continued to work there after graduating from Corsicana High School in 1935. She married Lawrece Griffith in 1936 and had three children. She decided to help with the war effort by working in an aircraft factory in Grand Praire. After divorcing in 1943 she, Larry and Beverly relocated to Oakland, Calif. She worked in an aircraft factory there as well as taking care of foster children. She moved to Wilmer in 1952 where she married Clarence Kissell. The couple built houses in the Wilmer area until his death in 1955. She then worked in dress shops and sewing factories in the Dallas area. Eventually she became homesick for family, fishing and the country, and returned to Navarro Mills during the time the lake was being built. She then worked at V’s Cafe, Haggar Slacks and Frost Sewing Company.

Her three greatest loves were family, The Lord and home. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking bread and quilting. She often traveled with friends and family, and she loved to play cards and dominos. At any Swink get-together, there would be dots flying and sweets to eat. She was a member of Blooming Grove Church of Christ where she was part of a quilting group. She spent the last four years in Corsicana with the many friends she made at Twilight Nursing Home. There, she crocheted hats for everyone and potholders for those who asked. The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides and other staff at Twilight, as well as Donna Paul and American Hospice Nurses.
