Aged Resident of Frost Passed Away Thursday Morning
FROST, Nov. 8.-(Spl.)—R. Williams, aged about 75 years, died here
Thursday morning at 2:30 and funeral services were held Thursday
afternoon at 4 o'clock with burial in the
Frost cemetery.
He is survived by one son, George Williams of Stamford; two
daughters, Mrs. A. P. Thompson, Hillsboro. and Mrs. Murphy of Frost,
with whom he had made his home since the death of his wife some time
ago.

Funeral services for E. Scott, aged 65 years, native of Navarro
county, well-known stockman of the Richland community, who died at
his home Monday morning at 11:40 o’clock with interment in the
Frost cemetery.
Surviving are his wife and one brother, J. M. Scott, Frost, and
other relatives.

FROST, Texas, August 2.—The funeral services of E. Scott who
died at his home in Richland Monday were held here Tuesday
afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Baptist church, with
interment in the
Frost cemetery. A large
number of friends, both from Richland and Frost were
present.

AGED RESIDENT OF FROST BURIED THERE SATURDAY AFTERNOON
FROST, Feb. 18.—(Spl.)—T. B. Rice, age 81 years died at his home
here Friday afternoon and funeral services were held Saturday
afternoon at 1 o’clock and were conducted by Rev. N. L. Range,
Baptist minister, at the home of the deceased. The Masons had charge
of the services at the grave.
Mr. Rice had been a resident here for a number of years and was
prominently identified with the business interest of the city.
He is survived by his wife and five children, Leonard Rice, Leonard;
Claude Rice, Malone; Mrs. Bessie McClure, Teague; Mrs. Lula Kelton,
Dallas, and Miss Amy Rice, Frost.

FROST WOMAN IS BURIED SATURDAY AFTERNOON THERE
FROST, Dec. 29. (Spl.) Mrs. B. T. Busby, age 64 years, died at the
home of her brother, Lee Way about three miles south of here, at
9:30 Friday night. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist
church Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock and were conducted by Rev.
Obie Nelson of Mt. Calm.
She is survived by four children.

Frost Woman Died Wednesday Morning
FROST, Nov. 7.—(Spl.)—Mrs. Sallie Bly, wife of H. L. Bly, aged 55
years, died at her home here Wednesday morning. Funeral services
will be held Thursday afternoon with burial in the
Frost cemetery.
The hour for the funeral has not been announced, pending word from
relatives.
Mrs. Blythe is survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons, a
step-daughter and step-son.

Twin Babies Were Buried Wednesday.
The 3 months old twin girls of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Hardin of Frost,

Thursday Rites For Mrs. Harper
Mrs. Martha A. Harper, 67, died at her home in Frost Wednesday
morning.
Funeral services were held from the Frost Methodist church Thursday
at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Milton Slayden officiating. Burial was in
the Frost cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, F. M. Harper of Frost; a daughter, Mrs.
Eula Merrell of Santa Ana Calif.; two sons, Erwin Harper and J. F.
Harper, both of Frost; two brothers, T. F. Moore of New Albany,
Miss., and T. M. Moore of Guthrie, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Dora Hayes,
Corsicana, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Bill and Irvin Moore, both of Frost; Jewell Smith
and Grover Smith, both of Frost Harvey Hayes and Horace Hayes both
of Corsicana.

Traffic Victim Buried Sunday
Funeral services for Marvin Darrell Young, 30, native of Frost,
killed in a one-car traffic accident Saturday near Wilmer on U. S.
Highway 75, were held from the Keever Chapel in Ennis Sunday at 3 p.
m. Burial was in the Frost cemetery. The rites were conducted by
Rev. W. E. Nunn, First Baptist
church pastor in Ennis, and Rev. R. P. Campbell, Dallas Baptist
minister.
Young was an employee of the Ennis Business Forms Company.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maureen Young, Ennis; parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. L. Young, Italy; a brother, Nolen Young, Ennis; two sisters,
Mrs. Charles
Goddard. Waco, and Mrs. Wayne Hogan, England and other relatives.

M. D. Young's Funeral Sunday
The funeral service for Marvin Darrell (Red) Young, 30, was held
Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Keever Chapel with Rev. W. F. Nunn and Rev.
R. P. Campbell of Dallas officiating. Interment was in the Frost cemetery
with the following pallbearers. Thomas Hudson, Willie Murtt, Thomas
Holland, Nalan Oliver, Loyce Cox and Bobby Carpenter.
Mr Young was killed in auto accident on Hwy 75 near Wilmer
Saturday morning.
He was born in Frost on April 15, 1929, the son of W. L. and Clara
Bell Young. He was reared in Frost and lived in Ferris and a time
before moving to Ennis in 1954.

Loyd F. Fox, 73, retired farmer, died Tuesday night at Wortham.
A native of Arkansas, he had resided in Navarro county 18 years

grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. Ostie Staggs, Dallas, and Mrs.
Lillie Wiley, Denison; a

Funeral rites for Charlie Goodgion, 81, retired farmer, who died at
1105 West Eleventh avenue Thursday morning, were held from the
Corley Chapel Friday at 2:30 p.m. with burial in the
Frost cemetery.
The services were conducted by Roy Williams, Farmers Branch Church
of Christ minister.
A native of Ruston, La., he had resided in Texas 41 years and in
Corsicana 10 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bertha D. Colvin, Ruston, La.; a
step-son Luther V. Tanner, Corsicana; 11 grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Charles W. Colvin, L. V. Colvin, W. F. Colvin,

FROST, May 8 — (Spl.) — Funeral services for Henry Cecil (Pete)
Hyer, 57, native of Frost, who died suddenly in Houston Wednesday,
were held at the Frost cemetery Friday at 1 p.m. The rites were
conducted by Rev. W. O. Ramsey, pastor of the First Methodist
church.
Hyer, a carpenter, had resided in Houston for 23 years.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas Alton Hyer and Henry Charles Hyer,
both of Houston; two brothers, Ernest W. Hyer, Frost, and W. D.
Hyer, Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Sybil Lambert and Mrs. C. R. King,
both of Houston, and other relatives.

Frost and Mertens area for most of his life, died Thursday night at
his home in

Funeral rites are planned for 10 a. m, Saturday from the Frost
Baptist church, and burial will be in the
Frost cemetery. Rev. C. C.
Ellis, pastor, will conduct and be assisted by Rev. Frank Williams,
pastor of the Frost Methodist church.
Smithey was a farmer, and a veteran of
World War I.

Nancy Gorden, Waco; Mrs. Lynette Robinson, Anchorage, Alaska; four

Albert B. Short, 81, formerly of Frost died Sunday morning at his
home in Italy. He moved to Italy 17 years ago when he retired from
farming and stock-raising at Frost. He was born Sept. 29, 1880, at
Hempstead and came to Frost in 1905. He was a member of the Frost
Baptist Church.
Funeral services were to be held Monday at 4 p.m. from the Frost
Baptist church with burial in the
Frost cemetery. The rites were to
be conducted by Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor; Rev. Obie Nelson, Baptist
minister, and Rev. Clyde Coleman, Baptist pastor of Italy.
Surviving are his wife of Italy; a son, Jimmy Short, Monahans; six
daughters, Mrs. Janie Compton, Italy; Mrs. Ruel Goodman, Waxahachie;
Mrs. Earl Bailey and Mrs. J. F. Meadows both of Dallas; Mars. James

Former Frost Resident Shot At Crockett
Billy Joe Wood, 39, oil company employee at Crockett, native of
Frost, was fatally shot at Crockett Wednesday afternoon.
The Associated Press reported he was shot in the face and killed as
he sat in his car with his wife and 4-year-old daughter.
Sheriff J. B. Lively, according to the Associated Press, said a man
came out of a house and shot at Wood, an oilfield worker. The man
was arrested.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the Frost
Baptist church with burial in the Frost cemetery. The rites will be
conducted by Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor of the church, assisted by
Rev. Don Collins, pastor of the Grand Avenue Baptist church in
Waxahachie.

fatally shot Wednesday afternoon while sitting in a car with his
wife and daughter,

FROST, June 1 (Spl.) — Mrs. E. J. Sheppard, 74, long-time resident,
died at her home Thursday afternoon of a heart attack.
Funeral services are slated Friday at 4 p.m. from the Frost
Methodist church, of which she was a member, with burial in the
Frost cemetery. The rites are to be conducted by Rev. C. C. Ellis,
pastor, assisted by Rev. Peyton C. Goodman, Valley Mills Methodist
pastor, a relative.
Mrs. Sheppard was born at Mertens and is the former Miss Carrie
Goodman. She had resided here 51 years.
Surviving are a son, Edwin Sheppard, Frost; a grandson;five

Thomas M. Tisdale, 75, retired farmer, died suddenly Monday
afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Bundy Wilbanks, in Frost.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Frost
Baptist church with Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor, conducting the rites.
Burial will be in the Frost cemetery.
Native of Mart, Texas, Tisdale had spent most of his life in the
Frost and Mertens communities.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Wilbanks, Frost; Mrs.
Edith Smith, Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. Irene Young, Ennis, and Mrs.
Christine Shaffer, Arlingon; two brothers, W. A. Tisdale, Clovis, N.
M., and B. R. Tisdale, Deval, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Dee Hardin,

FROST, Nov. 14 (Spl.) — Mrs. Jewell York, 67, resident of this
Community since early childhood, died in Memorial Hospital Wednesday
morning following a two week's illness.
Funeral arrangements were incomplete at the McCormick funeral
Service Chapel Wednesday noon but the rites will be from the Frost
Baptist church with burial in the Frost cemetery. Rev. C. C. Ellis,
pastor, will conduct the service.
Surviving are her husband, Will York, Frost; two sons, Bud York,
Frost, and Charles York, Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. E. N. Priddy, Fort
Worth; two
brothers, Doc Lambert, Corpus Christi, and George Lambert,

FROST, Nov. 5 (Spl.)—Miss Beatrice Jones, 52, teacher, native of
Frost, died at her home here Sunday morning following an extended
illness.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p. m. from the First
Methodist church. Burial was in the Frost cemetery. The rites were
conducted by Rev.
Frank Williams, pastor.
Miss Jones had a master's degree from North Texas State University.
She had taught at Mertens, Slay, Jones Ranch, Frost and Sheppard Air
Force
Base, Wichita Falls.
Surviving are three brothers, J. B. and Raymond Jones, both of
Frost, and B. K. Jones, Huntsville; two sisters, Mrs. H. J.
Keathley, Frost, and Mrs. Leo
Chamberlain, Dallas, and other relatives.

Earl J. Bruner Dies Tuesday
Final rites for Earl J. Bruner, 57, who died Tuesday were held at
Memorial Baptist church Wednesday at 4 p.m. with burial
in the Frost cemetery.
The Rev. W. B. Huntsberry, pastor, was to conduct the service,
assisted by the Rev. A. M. Stone, former pastor who is presently
pastor of North Waco Baptist Church.
Bruner, of 1305 West Thirteenth Avenue, died in Memorial Hospital of
a heart condition. He had been in ill health for several months.
He was a native of Frost but had lived in Corsicana for
approximately 18 years. During
World War II he served in the Pacific
area. He was a veteran employe of the Navarro County Rural Electric
Cooperative, Inc. (REA).
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Iris Bruner, Corsicana; three brothers,
Ernest Bruner, Pasadena; and Eldred and Eugene Bruner, both of Fort
Worth; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were to be REA employes—Clyde Osborne, Bud Andrus, Sandy
May, Hugh Stewart, Doyle Williford and Leonard Odom. Honorary
pallbearers were officers and other employes of REA.

FUNERAL SERVICES SUNDAY AFTERNOON FOR JAMES A. GANT
Funeral services for James A. Gant, 50, native of Frost, were held
Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The services were held at the Frost
Baptist church and
were conducted by the Rev. D. P. Cagle, pastor, assisted by the Rev.
M. O. Cheek, pastor of the Kerens Baptist church.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Ralph, and his mother, Mr. Gant
died Saturday in the Navarro clinic, Operating a filling station in
Frost for a number of years, Mr. Gant was well known not only in his
home community, but throughout the county. He had many friends, all
of whom were
genuinely grieved to learn of his death.

Mrs. Arch Gardner died at Frost yesterday and her husband is very
low with pneumonia. A new born babe of the couple was buried last

Former Frost Citizen Dead.
Jack Haynes, aged 56 years, for many years a resident of Frost, but
who went to Palacios some months ago for his health, died there
Wednesday night, and the remains were buried at Frost today. The
deceased is survived by his wife and seven children.

FROST, April 5— (Spl.)— Funeral services for Sam L. Germany, 65,
Frost native, who died of a heart attack in Fort Worth Friday, will
be held from the First Methodist church Sunday at 3 p. m. The rites
will be conducted by Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor of the Frost Baptist
church, and Rev. W.
O. Ramsey, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in
Frost cemetery.
Germany, formerly a landowner and merchant here, and had been in the
air-conditioning business the past six years while residing in Fort
Worth.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sybil Downey Germany, Fort Worth; a
daughter, Mrs. Joan Magee, Maryland; two nephews, Wallace and
Kenneth Germany, both of Dallas.
Pallbearers will be Hubert Bailey, Earl Bruner, Sammie Saunders, J.
O. Williams, W. A. Ross and J. J. Slater.

Funeral services for Henry Clonts, 80, who died in Dallas Tuesday,
were held from the Frost Methodist church Wednesday afternoon. The
rites were conducted by Rev. Milton Slayden, pastor. Burial was in
the Frost cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Norman Clonts; a step-son, Bedney Hooser, and a
stop-daughter, Mrs. Roy Dawson, Frost; a brother, Frank Clonts,
Eldorado, and other relatives.

FROST, Jan. 27.—(AP)—Funeral services for Frank Hinkle, aged 37
years, who was killed at Electra Wednesday when his glove caught in
a machine used to clean a pipeline, were held here Friday afternoon.
He resided at Burkburnett.
Surviving are four brothers, R. R. Hinkle, Frost; W. R. Hinkle,
Devol, Okla.; Joe Hinkle, Burkburnett, and Ray Hinkle, Burkburnett;
and two sisters, Miss Lucille Hinkle, Jackson, Tenn, and Miss

FUNERAL RITES FOR PIONEER RESIDENT WERE HELD MONDAY
MRS. JULIA L. SHARP DIED HERE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Sharp, aged 81 years, resident of
Navarro county most of her life, were held Monday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the residence of Mrs. S. O. Hyer, Frost, Texas. Interment
was in the Frost cemetery. Mrs. Sharp died early Sunday morning at
the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Derwood Robinson, 615 North Twenty-fifth street.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Durwood Robinson, Corsicana,
and Mrs. John Walston, Dallas; one son, G. B. McFadden, Austin; a
sister, Mrs. Mollie Hampton, Frost; two brothers, C. T. Spencer,
Frost, and J, P. Spencer, Dallas; five grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren.
Rev. Gordon A. Maclnnes, pastor of the Third Avenue Presbyterian
church, conducted the services.
Sutherland-McCammon Funeral home had charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were L. C. Morgan, S. O. Hyer, H. G. Gribble, John
Jordan, Walter Huckabee and Edgar Bowman.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR PIONEER RESIDENT
TOM S. MEADOR HAD RESIDED IN WEST END FOR MANY YEARS
Tom S. Meador, aged 83 years, pioneer resident of West Navarro
County, died at his home between Blooming Grove and Frost Saturday
afternoon at 1 o'clock. He had resided on the farm where he died for
sixty-four years.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. W. J. Lucas,
Corsicana; Mrs. S. Scroggins, Cleburne, and Mrs. T. N. Sheppard,
Blooming Grove; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and other
relatives.
Funeral services were held from the family home Monday afternoon at
1 o'clock with burial in the Frost cemetery. The rites were
conducted by Rev. F. B. Patterson. The Masonic Lodge had charge of
the rites at the grave.

JAMES HOYT NEESE, WELL KNOWN FARMER OF DRANE, IS DEAD
James Hoyt Neese, aged 48 years well-known farmer of the Drane
community, died with a heart attack at his home Tuesday night at 9
o’clock.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from
the Frost Methodist church with burial in the Frost cemetery. The
rites were conducted by Revs. J. B. Weathers and Bascom Martin.
Neese was a member of the petit jury panel in the district court,
this week which was excused Tuesday.
He was reared in the Frost community and had resided in the Drane
section for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, four children, Mrs. Bernard Wade, Emhouse;
Miss Phyllis Neese, Sonny Neese and J. H. Neese, Jr., all of Drane;
two brothers, Roy Neese, Corsicana, and Virgil Neese, Fort Worth; a
sister, Mrs. Lee Brown, Fort Worth and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Marvin Reed, Jim Grimmett, D. D. Hale, Shelby
Hicks, R. B. McDowell, John Robinson, Walter Dycus and M. M.
Roughton.

employe, of Lancaster, died Monday in the Chester Clinic and
hospital in Dallas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Frost
Baptist church with burial in the Frost cemetery.
The rites will be conducted by Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor, and Rev.
Thad Son, pastor o£ the First Methodist church.
He had resided at Lancaster 16 years.
Surviving are his wife of Lancaster; four brothers, Robert Lee and
Alva Clyde Smith, both of Frost; Joe Moore, Katy, and Ruby Moore,
Petrolia; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Young, Mrs. Annie Rudd and Mrs.

FROST (Spl) — Funeral rites will be held Saturday at 10 a.m for Tom
W. Stevenson, 85, who died in Memorial Hospital, Corsicana, Thursday
after an illness of several months.
Services will be held from the First Methodist Church. Rev. Thad
Son, the pastor, will conduct. Burial will be in the Frost cemetery.
A retired farmer and resident of Frost since about the turn of the
century, Stevenson was the last of five children. He taught Sunday
school and was superintendent of the Sunday school in the Methodist
church for a number of years. He formerly was bookkeeper for the
Lay-Heflin Hardware Company and the Sheppard-Bason Motor Company.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hill Warren, Frost, and Mrs.
Louise Bain, Mexia; four sons, Brown Lee Stevenson, Hobart, Okla.;
Thomas Stevenson, Great Bend, Kansas; Roswell Stevenson, Baton
Rouge, La., and W. E. (Dudge) Stevenson, Frost; and a number of
grandchildren and other relatives.
Grandsons will be pallbearers and his Sunday school class will be
honorary pallbearers.

p. m. Burial was in the Frost cemetery. The rites were conducted by
Rev. A. W. Gordon, pastor, aasisted by Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor of
the Frost Baptist church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. T. F. Bonnett, Frost, and several
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Terrell Hodges, Earl Ellington, Robert Freeman, Tom
Hooser, Edgar Bowman and Benny Scott.

Fletcher of Frost, who died in Sanitorium, Texas, Saturday, were
held from the Frost Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
The rites were conducted by Rev. D. P. Cagle, pastor of the church.
Interment was in the Frost cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Jack Fletcher, CCC Camp at Corsicana, and
two children. CCC boys were pallbearers.

Funeral services for Jack Rufus Fletcher, 25, who died of a heart
attack at his home in Kerens Saturday morning, were held Sunday at
2:30 p. m. from the Griffin Chapel. Burial was in the Frost cemetery. The rites were conduced by Rev. Jack Goff, pastor of the
West Side Baptist church. Fletcher, an employe of the sand and
gravel concern, resided in Chatfield prior to moving to Kerens two
weeks ago.
Surviving are his wife and two sons, Rufus Lee Fletcher and Billy
Dwain Green, all of Kerens; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack William
Fletcher, a sister, Mrs. Delia Simmons and a half-sister, Miss Judy
Ann Fletcher, all of Corpus Christi, and other relatives.

STRICKEN WITH PARALYSIS.
Prominent Citizen of Frost Is In Critical Condition.
The news reached here today that J. J. Stone, a prominent citizen of
Frost was stricken with paralysis yesterday and his condition is
very critical, with but little hope for his recovery.
Mr. Stone is just forty years old and has been one of Frost's most
successful and enterprising young men, and has a large circle of
friends outside of his community who will be pained to learn of his
serious condition.

Well Known Citizen Passes Away After Short Illness.
John J. Stone, aged forty years, and for a number of years a well
known druggist and business man of Frost, died there yesterday after
a few hours
illness from paralysis, and the remains were interred there this
afternoon at 3 o'clock. The deceased is survived by his widow and
two children.

BURIED YESTERDAY.
Malarial Congestion Cause of Deaths of Little Tullos Children.
News came from Frost today that the little son and daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, J. M. Tullos, who died there suddenly Saturday morning were
taken off by malarial congestion.
The two little fellows were interred together yesterday morning in
the Frost cemetery, and the funeral was one of the largest ever seen
in that community. besides the great concourse of home people there
were many present from the surrounding country, and from Italy, Mertens, Blooming Grove, and a number from Corsicana, and at the
conclusion of the services the little graves were literally covered
in a bank of beautiful flowers, emblems of the beautiful little
lives that had been transplanted to a more congenial clime.

Died at Frost.
Mrs. Mittie McCord Paul, wife of Joe Paul, and daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Pone McCord, died at the family home at Frost Monday night of
pellagra,
and the remains were interred there yesterday. The deceased was 22
years of age and is survived by her husband and two children and
many other relatives.

the past 47 years, died Monday in a Hillsboro hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. at the McCormick
Funeral Chapel in Frost. Interment was in Frost cemetery. The Rev.
Walter

Holmes was a veteran of World
War I.
Surviving are three brothers, R. A. Holmes of Milford, W. I. Holmes
of Dallas and W. M. Holmes of Lufkin; five sisters, Mrs. Minda Scott

for Mrs. Ruby Harper, 71, resident of Corsicana, who died Wednesday

She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her husband, James
Floyd Harper proceeded her in death Feb. 7, 1963.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Wayne Christie of Corsicana,
Mrs. Bob Speck of Richmond, Mrs. John Arnold of Lubbock, and Mrs.
Roy Cooper of Garland; a son, Charles Ray Harper of Houston; 12

James Allison Merrell, 64, Frost business man and civic leader, died
in Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon following an extended
illness.
Merrell was a native of Irene but had lived in Frost for the past 40
years. He was a hardware and implement dealer and served as city
secretary for many years.
Services will be held from the Frost Methodist church at 10 a.m.
Thursday with Rev. Harold Thompson pastor, officiating, assister by
Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor of the Frost Baptist church. Burial will be
in the Frost cemetery.
Survivors are the wife of Frost; step-mother, Mrs. J. A. Merrell,
Sr. of Irene; four brothers, A. B. Merrell of Lubbock, B. A. Merrell
of Corpus Christi, Maurice Merrell of California and B. D. Merrell
of Pecos; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Johnson of Littlefield and Mrs.
James Ehaw of Port Arthur.

pastor, will conduct the rites. Burial will be in the Frost cemetery.
Mrs. Woolley was a member of the Eleventh Avenue Methodist church,
Corsicana.
Surviving are one son, Henry W. Woolley, Indiana, three stepsons, P.
L. Woolley, Frost: John L. Woolley, Selman City, Texas, and Herman
C. Woolley. Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Pryor.

Otis Hill, 60, well-known Frost farmer, died in Memorial Hospital
Thursday morning.

although complete arrangements had not been made at noon Thursday.
Surviving are his wife and other relatives.

For Otis Hill
Funeral services for Otis George Hill, 60-year-old native of Frost,
who died in Memorial Hospital Thursday morning, were held Friday at
3 p. m. from the Frost Baptist church.
The rites were conducted by Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor; assisted by
Rev. James Robinson, pastor of the Haltom City Baptist church, and
Rev. Denzil Wright pastor of the First Methodist church in Blooming
Grove. Burial was in the Frost cemetery.
Hill was a well-known farmer of the Frost area.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Valley Hill, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur
Smithey, both of Frost and a number of other relatives. Nephews were
pallbearers.

H. B. Boyd Dies Friday Horning
H. B. Boyd. 81, retired contractor, died at the family home in Frost
early Friday morning following an extended illness.
Boyd retired as a building contractor here in 1943 and moved to
Roane. The family moved to Frost in 1951 where they have since made
their home.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E. M. Sheppard, Frost, and Mrs.
Thelma Lewis, two sons, T E. Boyd, Malakoff, and Willie B. Boyd,
Corsicana; eight
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother. Amos Boyd,
Malakoff; a sister, Mrs. Ola Shelton, Malakoff, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held from the McCammon1 Chapel Saturday at
2 p.m. with burial in the Frost cemetery. The rites will be
conducted by
Rev. C. C. Ellis, pastor of the Frost Baptist church.

died in a Temple hospital Wednesday, were held from the First
Methodist church here Thursday afternoon. The rites were conducted
by Rev. A. W. Gordon, pastor. Burial was in the Frost cemetery.

Charles J. (Buddy) Brown, aged 63 years, died at his home, 307 West
First avenue, Wednesday night.

Westminster Presbyterian church.

Mrs. Mollle Elizabeth Roberson, Frost, aged 77 years, died at the P.
and S. Hospital Thursday night. Funeral services will be held at
Frost, but the hour had not been determined Friday morning.
Surviving are four sons, Dudley Roberson. Frost; Thomas Roberson,
Waxahachie; Wiley Roberson, Waco, and Hub Roberson, Alabama; 18
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs. Griffin Of Frost Is Found Dead On Sunday
FROST, Dec. 11—(Spl.)—Mrs. George Griffin, 91, pioneer resident of
this area, was found dead in her home about noon Sunday by
neighbors.
A coroner's verdict of "death from natural causes" was returned by
Owen Sheppard of Blooming Grove, justice of the peace for Precinct
5, following an investigation.
Funeral services were held from the First Methodist church Monday at
2:30 p. m. Burial was in the Frost cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joe Sheppard, Kerens; Mrs. Elis
Burns, Shreveport, La., and Mrs. Dumas English, Tahoka; and a number
of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

the past 20 years, died Sunday night in a Huntsville hospital.

Mrs. H. W. Keathley, 71, 1820 W. 6th Ave., resident of Corsicana for
39 years, died early Tuesday in Memorial Hospital.
A native of Navarro county, she had formerly resided in Irene and
Dallas before moving to Corsicana in 1930. She was a member of the
First Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Griffin
Chapel with the Rev. Lively Brown officiating, assisted by the Rev.
James D. Abel. Burial will be in the Frost cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Halbert W. Keathley; one son, Frank
M. Keathley, Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. R. D. Patterson, Corsicana,

MOTHER CORSICANA MAN WAS BURIED IN FROST ON MONDAY
FROST, July 10.—(Spl.)—Mrs. J. R. Slay, aged 65 years, died at her
home here Sunday and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at 4
o’clock with burial in the Frost cemetery. She was a native of
Navarro county.
Mrs. Slay was taken suddenly ill and died about two hours later.
Surviving are seven sons, Jack and Frank Slay, both of Hillsboro;
Tom Slay, Frost; Sam Slay, Corsicana; Caral Slay, Rhome; Charlie
Slay, Lufkin, and John Slay, Frost; and a daughter, Mrs. J. B.

FROST, Nov. 23.—Funeral services for Mrs. George Lambert, who died
in a Corsicana hospital Tuesday night where she had been taken for
an emergency appendicitis operation, were held here Thursday
afternoon.
Surviving are her husband, a three-year-old son, mother, Mrs. Claude
Edsell, San Angelo; five sisters, and three brothers.

Mrs. S. O. Hyer Dies Tuesday
Mrs. S. O. Hyer, 74, formerly of Frost died in Dallas early Tuesday
morning. She had been living in Dallas for four years, moving there
from Frost.
She was the wife of S. O. Hyer, retired Frost postmaster who for
many years was an active Republican in the Frost Area.
Mrs. Hyer was born in Mississippi.
She is also survived by seven sisters, Mrs. Maud Smith and Mrs. Lena
Tinsley, Fort Worth; Mrs. Ernest Tinsley, Italy; Mrs. Fahrner and
Mrs. Harvey Tigg, Waxahachie; Mrs. Ed Carroll, Blooming Grove; and
Mrs. Edgar Bowman, Frost.
Funeral arrangements are pending. They will be directed by McCormick
Funeral Service.

Wednesday from the First Methodist church for Mrs. S. O. Hyer, 74,
who died early Tuesday morning in Dallas. She was a former resident
of Frost.
Rev. Harold Thomas, pastor of the First Methodist church of Frost,
officiated. Burial was in the Frost cemetery.
Mrs. Hyer was born in Mississippi. Her husband is a retired Frost
postmaster.

Fred Womack, both of Dallas and Mrs. George Soutter, Houston; six

O. A. Yarbrough Expires Monday
FROST, March 16—(Spl.)—O. A. Yarbrough, 78, retired railroad man,
found at his home here Sunday afternoon apparently the victim of a
stroke,
died in Memorial hospital in Corsicana early Monday morning. He
lived alone, and had resided here 12 years.
Funeral services will be held from the First Methodist church
Tuesday at 2 p. m. with burial in the Frost cemetery. The rites will
be conducted by Rev. W. L. Milner, pastor, assisted by Rev. C. C.
Ellis, pastor of the Frost Baptist church.
Yarbrough was a native of Alabama. Neighbors discovered Yarbrough on
the floor of his residence when they pulled a latched screen loose
after failing to see him during the day. He was in an unconscious
condition and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital Sunday
afternoon.
Surviving are two sons, W. T. Yarbrough, LaMarque, and Herman
Yarbrough, Texas City: two daughters, Mrs. Velmar Berndt, Galveston,
and Miss Norean Yarbrough, Houston; two brothers, Perry Yarbrough,
Mertens, and J. E. Yarbrough, Texas City; two sisters, Mrs. S. M.
Baugh, Frost, and Mrs. Andy Herring, Mertens; eight grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Execution-style shooting kills Corsicanan Friday
Navarro County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the Friday night
execution style slaying of 36-year-old Tommie D. Smith, according to
Sheriff
Jerry Shelton.
Shelton said Saturday that a young Pasadena man was taking his
girlfriend home when they found Smith's body at 10:30 p.m. Smith's
body was on FM
2452 halfway between the Corbet Road and FM 709.
According to the sheriff, Smith had been shot in the head at close
range with a shotgun. “It was definitely an execution-type slaying,"
Shelton said.
Peace Justice G. W. O'Neal ruled the death homicide. O'Neal also
pronounced Smith dead at the scene.
No motive has been determined, but Shelton feels that there might be
a dual motive for the killing. He adds that no suspects have been
arrested yet.
Besides Shelton, Deputies Bob Rehders, Grady McCall and Bud
Armstrong are investigating Smith’ death.
Services for Smith will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Griffin Funeral
Home Chapel. The Revs. Don Josephson and Andrew Rushing will
officiate with burial following at the Frost cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Enla Fay Smith of Corsicana; three
sons, Thomas Smith, Teddy Smith and Hoy Smith, all of Corsicana, his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoy Smith of Corsicana; two brothers, Jerry
Smith of Fort Polk, La., and Rex Smith of Las Vegas Nev.; two
