J. R. Bowden

J. R. Bowden
Memorial services for J.R. Bowden were held recently in the First Baptist Church of Arlington, with Dr. H.E. East, pastor of the church, officiating.
Bowden died in his home in Arlington on Dec. 24.
Born Nov. 19, 1914, he was a native of Rice, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Bowden of Rice.
Bowden was a decorated WWII Army veteran, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross in action in Burma.
Active in Arlington city affairs, he was a member of the planning and zoning commission in the 1950’s and was a member of the Arlington Board of Realitors. He was a member of the Lions Club and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Arlington; one son, Scott Bowden of Arlington; two daughters, Sherly Nan Caldwell of San Angelo and Anita Beth Bowden of Johnson County; a sister, Frances Weaver of Arlington; two brothers, Bobbie Bowden of New Mexico and Jack Bowden of Colorado; also four grandchildren.
