 Biography

Benjamin Franklin Carroll, Jr. was born on May 4, 1841 in Lauderdale Co., MS to Benjamin Franklin Carroll, Sr. & Huldah (Harper) Carroll.  Husband of Georgia Anna (Stokes) Carroll; Son of Benjamin Franklin Carroll, Sr. & Huldah (Harper) Carroll.  On Dec 19, 1866 he married Georgia Ann (Stokes) the daughter of Willis B. Stokes and Judith Ann (Howard) Stokes. See the Decadency Outline Below for information on their Children.  Benjamin was a Civil War Veteran, having served in Co B 4th Texas Cavalry, Parson's Brigade.  His wife, received Confederate Widow's Pension #46945.  Benjamin died on May 5, 1912 at Dresden, Navarro Co., TX.  Georgia died on Feb 17, 1933 in the home of her daughter, Carroll Crouch.  Benjamin and Georgia are buried at the Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Navarro Co., TX.

Obituary

Carroll - Blooming Grove, Tex, May 9., - Benjamin F. Carroll, an ex-Confederate veteran, died at his home tow miles south of this place and was buried at Dresden with Masonic honors.  Deceased enlisted in war service with Company B. Fourth Texas Cavalry, under Col. Parsons, and after four months State service enlisted in the Second Texas regulars under Parsons; was captured at Lake Providence by a portion of Steele's company; escaped from guard house and made his way to his company, which afterward disbanded in Falls County.  He was a pioneer settler in Navarro County and lived at his present home since 1869.

MRS. B. F. CARROLL BURIED AT DRESDEN CEMETERY SATURDAY WIFE PIONEER PUBLISHER OF NAVARRO COUNTY DIED HERE FRIDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. B. F. Carroll, aged 85 years, pioneer resident of Blooming Grove, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. C. Crouch here at 1:15 Friday afternoon, were held at the Dresden Cemetery at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Cox of the Barry Baptist church officiating. The deceased is survived hy one brother, Jeff Stokes, Dallas, and the following children: Mrs. Joe M. Brown, R. J. Carroll and Mrs. D. C. Crouch, all of Corsicana; R. L. Carroll and Mrs. Tom Neal, Blooming Grove; A. L. Carroll, Mullin, Texas; and Mrs. W. D. Allen, Norman, Okla. Numerous grandchildren and other relatives also survive. McCormick Funeral Home of Blooming Grove will be in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Carroll was the wife of the late B. F. Carroll, pioneer Navarro county newspaper man.
