Officer Dickson started his career with DPS on Dec. 1, 1947 was killed along with his partner, Bill J. Mahoney. They were answering a fatal crash to an accident involving a car and a truck on Hwy 191 W. of Belton. He died right away, Officer Mahoney died the following day.
He is also mentioned in Navarro Co. as a WW11 veteran. Page 5. He graduated from Purdon High School.

Holiday Week-End Brings Violent Death For 22 Persons In This State

Pvt. Alfred C. Bibb Camp Hood soldier was killed near Killeen. Highway Patrolman L. W. Dickson of Corsicana, died in a crash while speeding to investigate the accident. Another soldier and Patrolman B. J. Mahoney were injured. Mahoney died in a Belton hospital. Dickson, aged 25 years, will be buried in Corsicana.

The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Corley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The rites will be conducted by J. L. Hines, Dallas, Church of Christ minister.

Dickson was a paratrooper in World War II.

Surviving are his wife and little son, Gary Don Dickson, both of Belton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Q. Q. Dickson, both employes at the State Home here; a brother, Selma Dickson, Colorado City; a sister, Mrs. Henry Williams, Bynum and other relatives.

L. W. Dickson Is Buried Oakwood Cemetery Today

Funeral services for L. W. Dickson, aged 25 years, Texas highway patrolman, were held from the Corley Funeral Chapel Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery here. The rites were conducted by J. L. Hines, Dallas, Church of Christ minister, formerly of Corsicana, assisted by Rev. J. B. Ousley, pastor of Memorial Baptist church.

Dickson, a resident of Belton, formerly of Corsicana, was fatally injured in an automobile crash on the Camp Hood Highway Sunday when several persons were fatally injured.

He was a paratrooper in World War II and had been a highway patrolman several months, only a short time ago establishing a highway patrol station in Belton.

Surviving are his wife and little son, Gary Don Dickson, both of Belton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Q. Q. Dickson, employes of the State Home Corsicana; a brothers, Selma Dickson, Colorado City, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Williams, Bynum.

Highway patrolmen were pallbearers.
