William Hashop

William Hashop, 94 of Ennis, formerly of Corsicana passed away in Ennis Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Visitation has been set from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 4:30 p.m. with Chaplain Dan Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Will was born in Corsicana on December 15, 1912, He was the son of Louis and Annie Attra Hashop. In 1905 Louis Hashop founded Hashop's Drugstore located on Beaton Street. Upon graduating from Corsicana High School in 1931, Will joined his father in the business. With the help of his brother Joe, Will ran the family business until he retired in 1989. At the time of Will's retirement, his business partner and longtime friend, Dee Hawkenson took over the store and the name was changed to Dee's Place.

Will was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Couples Class. He devoted many years to teaching Sunday School. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge.

Will was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Hashop and sister Rosa Hashop Ross, his first wife. Josephine Hashop, and a generation of friends in the Corsicana community.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Moses Hashop of Ennis, daughters Rebecca Stephenson of Evergreen, Co., Kathryn Brader of Austin and his son William (Bill) Hashop, Jr. of Dallas and his brother, Louis Hashop, Jr. of League City. His granddaughters are Courtney Meier of San Antonio and Kimberly Ohlson of Denver, Co. His grandsons are Darren Holmes of Las Vegas, NV, John Hashop, New York, Jay Hashop and Joel Hashop of Dallas. He also has six great grandchildren, four nephews and a niece.
